Release Notes - BetterCast v1.0

We are excited to announce the first release of BetterCast!
BetterCast is an open-source solution specifically designed to repurpose older Macs as extended displays for your primary Mac. This release brings a new life to devices that are no longer supported by Apple's native Sidecar or AirPlay Receiver.

What's Included

This release contains two applications compressed in a single ZIP file:

• BetterCastSender.app: Install this on your Primary Mac (the one you want to extend).
• BetterCastReceiver.app: Install this on your Older/Secondary Mac (the one acting as the display).

⚠️ Important Installation Instructions

Since this is an open-source tool and not signed with an Apple Developer ID, you must manually bypass Gatekeeper to run the apps.

1. Unzip the downloaded file.
2. Drag and Drop both apps to the /Applications folder on their respective machines.
3. Run the following command in Terminal for each app:
   On the Primary Mac (Sender):

   xattr -cr /Applications/BetterCastSender.app

   On the Secondary Mac (Receiver):

   xattr -cr /Applications/BetterCastReceiver.app

4. Launch the apps and enjoy your extra screen!
