An experimental build for desktop Linux. The Steam Deck package will be added to this release once it has been run on a Deck. It contains no game data: you need your own Ridge Racer 6 (USA) disc image.
New in test build 05
- Downloadable content you own can be added:
./ridge-racer-6.sh --install-dlc FILE-OR-FOLDER. You need the content files from your own Xbox 360's storage, the ones with long names and no extension inContent/0000000000000000/4E4D07D3/00000002. A folder is searched together with the folders inside it. Added music appears as a "Player Disc" under Change BGM on the screen before a race. - On Windows this has been done with real content (five music tracks, played in a race). On Linux only stand-in packages made for testing have been through it, so a report with real content would be welcome. No content is included, and none is downloaded.
Also in this build, as before: the black-track fix in the graphics code itself (our fork of the ReXGlue SDK), the game's 36 achievements with a pop-up, a sound and a list (hold Back + Start, then Y; on a keyboard F7).
Which file
RidgeRacer6-Linux-TestBuild-05.tar.gz: desktop Linux.
Unpack it, put your .iso into the folder, and start ridge-racer-6.sh. README.txt in the archive has the details.
What to expect
Builds 03 to 05 have only been run on a machine without a graphics card, with software rendering; how well they run on real hardware is not known yet. Please report what you see: tools/collect-report.sh in the unpacked folder packs the logs and a description of your system into one file.
Needs glibc 2.35 and the C++ library of GCC 13.2 or newer (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39, SteamOS 3.6, Arch) and a Vulkan driver.
