0.7.3 makes the proxy setting cover everything the app does, adds a refresh button and
an interface scale, and puts Play all on the shelves at home.
New features
- A refresh button in the titlebar, and F5 (#177). Browse pages are cached for five minutes, so leaving a page and coming back was the only way to refetch. The button sits in the back/forward group and does rotate Quick picks. Not Ctrl+R, which cycles repeat.
- Play all on song shelves (#236). The shelf header queues the whole shelf; clicking a row still plays that one song and lets autoplay take over.
- Dislike in the mini player (#247). Disliking meant reopening the main window, which is the one thing the widget exists to avoid. The heart is now a thumbs-up so the pair reads as one control.
- An interface scale dropdown, and zoom that survives a restart (#243). Settings ▸ Themes, sharing one list of levels with the zoom hotkeys so the two cannot drift apart.
- Scrobble only the primary artist, optional (#231). A track credited to several artists scrobbled with YouTube's whole byline, so Last.fm made one artist named "Artist A, Artist B": dead page, split stats, no album match. The setting cuts the byline at the first comma, and a sub-setting extends the cut to "&" at the cost of duos that have a real page of their own. Both off by default, and only the scrobbler sees the shortened name: the OS media controls and Discord keep the full line.
LIMUSIC_PROXYoverrides the stored proxy for a single run, for testing a region-locked surface without a system-wide VPN.
Improvements
- The queue's Show/hide history choice is remembered across restarts and shared by the queue panel and the now-playing Queue tab, and showing history scrolls the played tracks into view (#119, by @tzii).
Bug fixes
- The proxy setting now covers playback and the app's own fetches (#241). Settings promised to route all network requests through the proxy and only ever configured the InnerTube client, so in a region that needs one a stream resolved and then sat at 0:00. A
socks5://orhttps://proxy is refused with a warning rather than silently ignored by ffmpeg, and proxy URLs no longer reach the log, where their credentials ended up in attached bug reports. - A proxy value the app could not parse stopped it from starting at all, with no window to go back into Settings and undo the typo.
- Closing the window no longer strands the app where there is no tray (#232). Bars that speak only the older XEmbed spec show no icon, and yet the window hid itself on close. It now hides only when an icon is showing, and an icon still appears if the tray starts later.
- Familiar Artists opens the artist page it browsed (#193). The rows browsed one channel and linked another, so the page looked right but had no "From your library" shelf.
- Lyrics lines dim evenly (#191). The old translucent color composited per glyph, so overlapping marks painted brighter than the rest of the line and Devanagari came out patchy.
On macOS, Gatekeeper says the app "is damaged and can't be opened" because the build is signed ad-hoc rather than with an Apple Developer ID. Clear it with xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/limusic.app.
