YACP 1.6.2-yacp.15: X3 UC8279d diagnostic build

X3 display diagnostic build

This pre-release is intended for an X3 that remains visually frozen after installing the earlier experimental UC8279d build. It corrects YACP's controller-detection order to match CrossPoint: the base X3 hardware profile is now selected before the display probe runs.

For this diagnostic build, YACP deliberately ignores the previously cached automatic panel decision and probes the controller again on every boot. This prevents an inconclusive early probe from permanently selecting the original UC8253 driver.

Diagnostic report

Before display initialization, an X3 writes YACP-X3-DIAGNOSTIC.txt to the root of the SD card. The file records:

  • the exact YACP version and build variant;
  • whether the live probe ran;
  • any manual override and the previous cached result;
  • the raw controller probe values;
  • the controller selected for that boot.

If the screen remains unchanged but this report appears, the new firmware did boot and the report should let us distinguish a detection problem from a display-refresh problem. If the report does not appear, the recovery installer probably did not boot this image.

Test procedure

  1. Use a freshly formatted FAT32 SD card.
  2. Download YACP-1.6.2-yacp.15-xlarge.bin and rename it to update.bin only if the X3 recovery installer requires that name.
  3. Put only that firmware file on the card.
  4. Run the normal X3 recovery confirmation sequence once. Keep stable power connected and do not interrupt a possible flash operation.
  5. Wait at least three minutes after confirming the update.
  6. If the display is still frozen, power down, remove the card, and send the complete contents of YACP-X3-DIAGNOSTIC.txt from the card root.

This is an experimental support build. Do not repeatedly retry the flash if the first attempt produces no diagnostic report.

Changes since 1.6.2-yacp.10

Added

  • Added the SD-card diagnostic report before display initialization.

Changed

  • Repeats the automatic X3 controller probe on every boot during hardware validation.

Fixed

  • Selects the base X3 profile before probing, enabling the same reset and retry behavior used by CrossPoint.
  • Bypasses the previous cached automatic verdict so an earlier false UC8253 decision cannot remain authoritative.
