It’s been 14 months since our last major release, and in that time we shipped six hot patches to keep pace with Jellyfin 10.10/10.11 and Shoko Server 5.0/5.1, hardened the plugin on libraries in the wild, all the while quietly working on the next major version in the background. Now that it’s time, we are happy to announce Shokofin 6.0.0, a feature-packed release that has been accumulating over the last year. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this release, be it bug reports, code contributions, documentation work, testing, or feedback!
If you’re new to Shokofin, start with our introduction post, check the docs, or explore the GitHub repo.
You can read the complete release announcement on our blog if you want to know more about the changes at a higher level.
Before proceeding with the update, be sure to update your Shoko Server instance to 5.2.1 and your Jellyfin instance to 10.10.7 or 10.11.5 or newer. It is recommended to recreate your plugin managed libraries after the update, but this is not a requirement, just a time-saving recommendation. With that out of the way, let’s get to it!
Edit: Starting with 6.0.1 we're supporting both Jellyfin versions 10.10 and 10.11, until 10.11 is stable enough for us to not need to support 10.10 anymore.
Highlights
Here are some of the key features and improvements since the last stable release (5.0.6):
Breaking Changes
-
The VFS is now always physically attached to the libraries. People upgrading from <5.0.0 may experience Jellyfin "resetting" their libraries while it moves the series from being attached to the media folder to the actual VFS folder now attached to the library. People starting on ≥5.0.0 won't see this issue. by @revam
-
The VFS now uses the main title for the default "season" of the series in the file system. If your preferred title differs from the main title, then the VFS will be rebuilt with new paths. A recreation is recommended as a time-saving measure, as it will either way recreate the library if the names used before the update and after the update differs. by @revam
