Hotfix reissue of the 5.0.2 update from two hours ago, caught two minor issues:
- Chinese translations weren't showing up in MG1 due to an encoding size bug.
- The backported PatriotFix update checker (mentioned below) was set to run off prefixed game tags instead of suffixed game tags, which would've made update checks fail for folks using HDFix versions older than 5.0.2 when a game specific update is the latest Github release version.
The rest of the 5.0.2 (now 5.0.4) notes below are unchanged:
🎮 New Restoration:
Metal Gear 2 Specific Restoration:
- Restored facial animations that were missing during the ending cast sequence.
- The entire ending sequence has been adjusted back to the original MSX timings (roughly totalling at 6.6 seconds faster than MC.)
🐛 New Bugfixes:
Metal Gear 2 Specific:
- Fixed even more typos across all languages.
⚙️MGSHDFix Internal Improvements & Bugfixes:
Shared:
- We've backported MGSPatriotFix's upgraded update notification system.
- MGSHDFix updates can now be issued for individual games without triggering update notifications for the rest of the collection.
- (Ie: if we put out an update that only contains fixes for MGS3, folks playing MGS2 won't see an "update is available" notification that doesn't actually change anything for their game.)
Metal Gear 1 & Metal Gear 2 Specific:
- Our vector/high resolution font system has been upgraded to support CJK (Chinese+Korean) and extended Latin characters (e.g. Polish accent glyphs) for translation makers to utilize.
- MG2: Corrected Natacha & Yozef's restored character names showing in non-English versions of the ending cast sequence.
- (We're still looking for translators to help with the FR/IT/DE/SP retranslations of the original Japanese MSX2 script - give us a poke on GitHub or discord if you're interested in helping out!)
Metal Gear Solid 2 Specific:
- Fixed our speedrunner sword tutorial skip feature not correctly updating the in-game timer.
