AMD players: test build ready

I think I found the cause. On AMD cards, the renderer was reading some depth data back one step off. Gears 3 and Judgment move a lot of image data through depth buffers, so this can corrupt surfaces and shadows. Every AMD log so far shows this exact error, and NVIDIA cards don’t have it.

Test build:

Close COGBox. Extract the zip into a new, empty folder, not over your current install. Then add your copy of Gears 3 / Judgment in it as usual (or copy your Gears3\game and Judgment\game folders over).
If you made an extra-args.txt earlier, don’t copy it over.
Play Gears 3 or Judgment to the same spot as before.
Please reply with:
Is the flickering, missing textures, or garbled text fixed, better, or the same?
Your GPU, and Windows or SteamOS (DirectX 12 or Vulkan)
A problem report (Make a problem report in the launcher), or the game’s log from the logs folder

Even a single launch and quit helps. The log shows straight away whether the fix is working.
