v4.15.0 - 2024-09-27

Attention, Exchange Online admins
See What about the roaming signatures feature in Exchange Online? in .\docs\README for details on how this feature works.
Set-OutlookSignatures supports cloud roaming signatures - see MirrorCloudSignatures in .\docs\README.

Add features with the Benefactor Circle add-on and get commercial support from ExplicIT Consulting
See .\docs\Benefactor Circle or https://explicitonsulting.at for details about these features and how you can benefit from them with a Benefactor Circle license.

Changed

  • Change the default value of the 'MirrorCloudSignatures' parameter to 'true'.
Although the Microsoft API is still not publicly available, it has been stable for more than two years and is being used by more and more Outlook editions.
This change only affects a small number of installations, as MirrorCloudSignatures is a Benefactor Circle exclusive feature that practically all clients with cloud mailboxes activate.
  • Try Integrated Windows Authentication first when connecting to Exchange, even when a cloud access token is available.
This is slower but ensures maximum compatibility for all architectures and combinations of access from internal or external networks, mailbox in cloud or on-prem, hybrid mode enabled (classic minimal/express/full, modern minimal/full) or disabled, Hybrid Modern Authentication enabled or disabled, and typical configuration issues.
  • Change sample templates font to Aptos, the new default font used by Microsoft.
  • Update dependency MSAL.Net to v4.65.0.
  • Update Outlook add-in dependency @azure/msal-browser to v3.24.0.

Added

  • Allow to select signature in the taskpane of the Outlook add-in. This is like having roaming signatures on-prem.
  • Make data preparation for Outlook add-in compatible with on-prem mailboxes. This does not (yet) remove the limitation that the add-in only works with cloud mailboxes on Outlook for Android and Outlook for iOS.
  • Add Outlook add-in support for images in signatures in Outlook Web on premises (will start working as soon as Microsoft fixes a bug in their office.js framework)
  • Connect to Graph if only one Benefactor Circle license group is defined and this license group is an Entra ID group, and show a warning when the Benefactor Circle license group for a mailbox is an Entra ID group but there is no connection to Graph.
  • Add support for the new way of Exchange Online modifying the HTML code of roaming signatures to 'DeleteScriptCreatedSignaturesWithoutTemplate' and 'DeleteuserCreatedSignatures'.
  • Add support for the OnAppointmentFromChanged event in the Outlook add-in, as Microsoft has updated the office.js library accordingly.
  • Adapt the conversion of DOCX templates to HTML so that the different Outlook editions on different platforms render fonts and colors more consistently.
  • Show more detailed troubleshooting hints when Autodiscover fails.
  • Show if a mailbox is in a license group before mailbox specific Benefactor Circle features are run.

Removed

Fixed

  • Fix the problem in the Outlook add-in that led to images not being shown in the signature on the first run of the add-in for each new appointment.
  • Add more code to work around limitations for Outlook add-ins on Outlook Web on premises.

File hashes and code signing

  • SHA256 hash of 'Set-OutlookSignatures_v4.15.0.zip': 1844FBB847BCA1A879D8FD67787CD83BD44F74D51075AC17A97BB21963A2D924
  • See 'hashes.txt' in 'Set-OutlookSignatures_v4.15.0.zip' for the hash value of every single file in the release.
    • Compare these hashes with the output of Get-ChildItem -Recurse | Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256.
