Fresh installs, the Devices page, and two long-standing map bugs
Fixed
- A brand new install still could not create its first account. The setup wizard never
appeared: the login page offered a Sign In form while the Create Admin Account form stayed
hidden, so there was no account to sign in with and no way to make one. A missing user file was
being reported as a read error instead of as "no users yet". 0.8.11 created the files a new
install needs; this is the same issue one layer up, and it is now tested end to end on an empty
volume with no environment variables set. Issue #124. - No site location could be saved, on any install. Picking a town answered "Pick a town from
the list, or clear the location", which is what the user had just done. The town search returned
full region names ("North Rhine-Westphalia") while the validator still expected the three letter
codes the old geo database used, so the app was refusing places its own search had offered.
99.6% of towns were affected. Issue #120. - The Connections map, Top Countries, Connection Flow, Top Ports and Top Destinations were all
empty for anyone whose router has a catch all0.0.0.0/0DHCP network. Every destination was
being treated as local and dropped. The connection count, the client picker and Top Sources kept
working, which is why it looked like a display problem rather than a filter. Issue #120. - Devices showed every device as offline for the first few seconds. The page now reports what
it actually knows: a device nothing has reached yet reads "Checking" rather than a red Offline,
and rows are filled from the always-on pool so real state is there on the first paint. Returning
to the page is instant instead of re-dialling the fleet. - The Devices map stopped plotting devices, because their location was not being sent to the
page. - The notification bell would not close when you clicked away. The only way to dismiss it was
to find the bell and click it again. - The Devices page sat in a narrow column on wide screens, and its cards stopped getting wider
past 1200px. Issue #122.
Internal
- The town search and the place validator are now checked against each other, so the app cannot
offer a location it will refuse to store. - A pool session that has not finished its first dial is no longer reported as offline anywhere.
- Handing a router between the two connection pools no longer leaves a gap where neither is
watching it.
