An interface name can no longer inject markup

Security

  • A quote in an interface name could inject an attribute into the Dashboard. The Physical Ports
card and the API Diagnostics card built their tooltips with a text-only escaper, which leaves "
and ' untouched by design. Confirmed on RouterOS 7.24 that a quoted name is accepted and reaches
the browser intact, so an interface called ether1" onmouseover="x could inject an attribute.
Exploiting it requires the ability to name an interface on a monitored router, so it is not remote,
but it is real. The Interfaces page was never affected: it always used the correct escaper.

Fixed

  • The Logs card no longer starts blank. The log history the server sends when a browser connects
was silently discarded, so the card stayed empty until you opened it and it refetched.

Internal

  • CI and the pre-push hook run the suite in the image that carries the dev tooling. A test needing a
dev-only tool previously failed to load rather than failing, taking its whole file with it.
  • A collector timer bounds itself where it is created instead of relying only on upstream clamping.
  • All GitHub code scanning alerts are resolved, each either fixed or dismissed with a written reason.
  • Release notes are short scannable points, and version headings no longer require an em dash.
