CEMU Android v0.5.1: External Save Sync, Custom Storage Root, External Display Support, and Odin 2 Dual-Screen Support

This release is based on the latest upstream Android port and adds several important improvements for save management, portable data, external displays, and Odin 2 support.

The main new feature is external save file sync, which makes it easier to use cloud sync, backups, or external synchronization tools with your CEMU save data.

This release also adds Data storage > Custom root support, allowing users to keep portable save data in a custom location.

And finally, proper Odin 2 dual-screen support is here.

Sorry for the wait on this one. I know Odin 2 users have been waiting for better support, and this release should make the experience much better.

New Features:

  • External save file sync support

    • Added support for syncing game save files through an external location.
    • This makes it easier to use cloud sync, backups, or external synchronization tools.
    • Game saves can now be kept in a more portable and user-accessible location.
  • Custom root support

    • Added support for Data storage > Custom root.
    • This allows portable save data to be stored in a custom root folder.
    • Useful for users who want more control over where CEMU stores save-related data.
  • Automatic game save sync

    • Game saves are synchronized automatically.
    • This should make external save workflows easier and safer to use.
  • Manual portable data import/export

    • Settings, graphic packs, logs, and other portable data can be imported or exported manually.
    • This gives users more control over what data is moved or backed up.
  • External display support

    • Added support for external displays.
    • Improved behavior when using CEMU with a second screen.
  • Screen swapping support

    • Added screen swapping support.
    • This is useful for dual-screen and external display setups.
  • Proper Odin 2 dual-screen support

    • Added proper dual-screen support for Odin 2.
    • This should make the Odin 2 experience much better for users using dual-screen layouts or external display setups.

Save Sync and Portable Data:

This release improves how CEMU Android handles save data and portable files.

Game saves now support external sync, which can help users who want to:

  • Sync saves with cloud storage.
  • Keep backups outside app storage.
  • Use external synchronization tools.
  • Move saves more easily between devices.
  • Keep save data in a custom root folder.

Game saves are synchronized automatically.

Other portable data, such as settings, graphic packs, logs, and related files, can be imported or exported manually.

Odin 2 Support:

This release finally adds proper Odin 2 dual-screen support.

Sorry for the delay.

Odin 2 users should now have a much better experience with dual-screen layouts, screen swapping, and external display usage.

Please test your games and layouts, especially if you use external displays or custom screen setups.

Important Upgrade Notice:

The signing key changed for this release.

Because of that, Android may refuse to install CEMU Android v0.5.1 over a previous build.

If Android refuses to update:

  1. Back up your saves first, especially if they are still only stored inside app storage.
  2. Uninstall the old version.
  3. Install CEMU Android v0.5.1.
  4. Restore or reconfigure your save sync / custom root setup if needed.

Please do not uninstall the old version until your saves are backed up or synced externally.

Notes:

This release is focused on save portability, external display workflows, Odin 2 support, and keeping the Android port closer to the latest upstream work.

Please report any issues with:

  • Device model
  • Android version
  • Game name
  • Storage mode used
  • Custom root path setup
  • External display setup, if used
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Screenshots or videos if possible
