This is an unofficial, experimental CoreELEC 22 build. It is NOT an official
CoreELEC release and it is NOT a supported CE22 port. I am not a CoreELEC 22
port maintainer, and I will not be providing support, bug fixes, updates, or
ongoing maintenance for this build.

The only purpose of this build is to give Amlogic AM9 Pro-class users a more
complete Dolby Vision experience than stock CoreELEC 22, by carrying a set of
custom Kodi features I built for my own device. That is the entire scope.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING

• USE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is no warranty of any kind, express
  or implied. It may fail to boot, misbehave, break Dolby Vision, or do nothing
  useful on your hardware.
• BACK UP YOUR CURRENT INSTALLATION FIRST. Take a full CoreELEC backup
  (Settings → CoreELEC → Backup) and/or image your existing boot media before
  you install anything from here. Assume you may have to restore it.
• Prefer a SEPARATE SD card or USB stick you can boot from, instead of
  overwriting a working internal (eMMC) install.
• Do NOT report problems with this build to the CoreELEC team or forums.
  This is not their build; it is not their responsibility. Do not ask them to
  support it.
• I am also not offering support. If it breaks, you keep both pieces.

By downloading or using any file in this release you accept all of the above.

Install

• Clean install (recommended): flash the *.img.gz to an SD card or USB with
  balenaEtcher (or the Amlogic USB Burning Tool for eMMC), then boot from it.
• In-place update: copy the *.tar to the /storage/.update folder on an
  existing CoreELEC install and reboot. (Back up first — see above.)
• Verify your download against the SHA256 sums below before flashing.

What's changed in this update

This build brings in the latest CoreELEC and Kodi upstream work, including new Amlogic
kernel device trees for more boxes, plus a Blu‑ray fix contributed by another user.
It follows
v22.0-samurihl-20260919163542.

Back up your current install before flashing.

Dolby Vision still requires dovi.ko (the CE22 5.15 build) installed on your
device. It is not bundled; install it yourself as on stock CoreELEC 22. You do
not need to modify it. This build corrects it automatically at boot.

🛠️ Fixed: some Blu‑rays played the wrong video

Some Blu‑ray discs carry a second, picture‑in‑picture video track. An example is a
small behind‑the‑scenes reel meant to play in a corner of the screen. Kodi can't show
picture‑in‑picture, but it still listed that track, and on some discs it picked it as
the main video. 30 Minutes or Less played a 720×480 featurette over the film's
soundtrack instead of the film.

That track is no longer offered as video, so the feature always plays. The same kind
of picture‑in‑picture audio track (commentary meant to be mixed over the main
soundtrack) is now skipped too, so it can't replace the film's sound either.

Thanks to Alex Scotti, who found the video fault,
traced it and wrote the fix. The audio half is the matching fix for the audio track.

📦 More boxes: new kernel device trees

This build moves to the latest CoreELEC kernel drivers, which add device trees for more
hardware:

• Tanix X4 (2 GB and 4 GB, including the 1 Gbit variants), by Zheng Qian
• Tencent Aurora 6S, by forbxy
• Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd gen): power button and IR transmitter nodes, by
  Pro‑me3us, together with the IR transmitter service for Amlogic‑no devices

The same update includes a fix this build has carried as its own patch since July.
It keeps HDR10 and SDR output from Dolby Vision's VS10 engine in the TV's native colour
format instead of forcing the Dolby Vision tunnel format. CoreELEC has now adopted it
upstream (thanks to signde for the bump), so this build no longer needs its own
copy. Behaviour is unchanged.

Dolby Vision on TVs with a v2 capability block: unchanged, deliberately

CoreELEC's drivers now read the Dolby Vision peak and black levels from TVs that report
a "v2" capability block, such as the LG G6 used for testing here. That upstream work is
by Portisch. This build keeps the decoding it shipped on 2026‑09‑17, which reads
those values as the PQ brightness codes the format defines. Upstream still treats them
as the older linear scale. On an LG G6, upstream would give a 1200‑nit peak; this build
reads the correct ~2485 nits, and a box running this build logs exactly that.
Nothing changes for you here.

🔄 From upstream Kodi

The most relevant for this build:

• Blu‑ray simplified menu now marks which playlists have already been played. By
  78andyp.
• Stopping music can no longer freeze Kodi while an add‑on is checking the screen in
  the background. Video playback was already protected against this. By Dom Cobley.
• Tougher checks on damaged video streams, including Dolby Vision ones. A corrupt
  packet is now rejected instead of being read past its end. By pannal. This build
  had its own version of the same fix, and upstream's is now used instead.
• Add‑on and remote‑control fixes, by Malard:
  • A memory leak in Python add‑ons is fixed: objects returned in lists, such as a
    video's cast, were never freed.
  • Remote apps using JSON‑RPC SetConfiguration no longer silently lose PVR, Info and
    Sources notifications.
• Library: Estuary shows the year when a premiere date is missing, by Kevin
  Goffe. Script run times now appear in the log, by Sam Nazarko.
• The two upstream fixes this build picked early on 2026‑09‑19 are now simply part of
  upstream:
  • the info‑string threading crash fix, by Chris
  • ejecting the right optical drive, by 78andyp

Upstream also added a RetroPlayer cheat engine and hardware rendering for game clients
(Chris, Garrett Brown, KOPRajs), plus macOS, Windows, Android and webOS
work that doesn't affect this build.

🔄 From upstream CoreELEC / LibreELEC

• Bluetooth is no longer switched off with rfkill during shutdown on Amlogic boxes, by
  Zheng Qian.
• Updated Realtek Bluetooth firmware and Amlogic W2 Wi‑Fi driver, by Portisch.
• WPA3 Wi‑Fi (SAE H2E) support on Broadcom chips, by Matthias Reichl.
• The usual package and add‑on updates from Rudi Heitbaum and the LibreELEC team.

🎞️ Subtitles: no change

Upstream Kodi changed how Blu‑ray (PGS) subtitles are drawn on HDR output. White and
grey subtitles would now follow Kodi's GUI brightness setting; only coloured ones keep
their authored level. This build keeps its current behaviour: every Blu‑ray
subtitle stays at its authored level, as in previous releases.

✅ Tested on a real box

On an AM9 Pro with an LG G6:

• Dolby Vision FEL Blu‑ray (M3GAN 2.0), about nine minutes of the feature
  playlist:
  • Dolby Vision engaged at the correct ~2485‑nit peak.
  • The disc's navigation ran exactly as on an earlier validated test build.
  • All four seamless branch points played with no picture gap. An earlier test
    build (2026‑09‑08) had a short stutter after the first one.
• BD‑J menus on the same disc: they open, play and stop cleanly, and Kodi returns
  to the home screen.

⚠️ Not yet checked by eye

• Blu‑ray subtitles under Dolby Vision and HDR10.
• GUI brightness under Dolby Vision.
• A disc using the simplified menu.
• New device trees: the boxes above weren't available for testing here, so reports
  from owners are welcome.
