SEB 3.7.2 removes window flickering on displays with a notch, fixes window, alert and SEB Dock placement on multi-display setups, and adds clearer error handling for redirected log/download directories and for corrupted settings opened in the Settings window.
New in SEB 3.7.2b1 Beta 1 (Build 15A19)
-
Fixed browser window flickering when the main browser window is maximized. On MacBooks with a notch the window stays below the camera housing strip, which is only covered by SEB's black background windows while the menu bar is hidden; those covering windows were closed before the new ones were opened, briefly exposing the desktop in that strip. SEB now opens the new covering windows before closing the old ones.
-
Fixed the SEB Dock, covering (background) windows and modal alerts being placed on the wrong display on multi-display setups where the menu bar is on a display SEB isn't running on (and macOS "Displays have separate Spaces" is enabled). macOS could move these windows to the menu-bar display and bind them to a single display's Space, which left a display uncovered, stranded the Dock mid-screen on a covered display, or showed alerts off on the wrong screen. SEB now pins the Dock and the covering windows to the display they belong on and moves them back if the system relocates them, lets these windows appear on whichever Space is active on their display, and centers alerts on SEB's configured screen.
-
Modal alerts and the Settings window are now reliably centered on the correct display. Alerts could be stranded off-screen (which could make SEB appear frozen, as a blocking alert waited for a response the user couldn't give), and the Settings window and its alerts (for example "Apply Edited Settings?") could appear at a display's left edge instead of centered. On multi-display setups alerts and newly opened browser windows now fade in once they are correctly placed, avoiding a brief flash at the wrong position.
-
Fixed a startup hang when Location Services access had not yet been decided: the "Location Services Required for Wi-Fi" wait dialog could open off-screen on a multi-display setup, leaving SEB blocked and looking like it had crashed. The dialog is now shown reliably on SEB's screen.
-
Fixed SEB failing to use a configured log or download directory that is redirected by a symbolic link or Finder alias (for example when ~/Documents is moved to a cloud location), which previously failed with a "Not a directory" error and could loop the privacy permission alert. SEB now follows such redirections for the log directory (falling back to the default log directory if it isn't accessible), and for downloads creates a separate "Downloads_SEB_" directory in the parent of the configured directory (or in the home directory) instead of downloading into a redirected, possibly synced location.
-
Fixed no error message being shown when opening a corrupted or invalid configuration file from the Settings window (File > Open, Revert to Last Saved, or holding the Option key at startup). SEB now reopens the Settings window and shows the same error description as when opening such a file outside of the Settings window.
-
Fixed a wrong German translation of the User Agent suffix feature.
-
Reduced redundant screen-reconfiguration handling that could occur in bursts (for example while a permission dialog was open) which also led to excessive log entries.
