Open Nectar 1.1 — Your saves, your folder

Import your Dolphin and GameCube saves from the launcher, keep all your
Android data in a folder you can open, and play Pikmin 2 co-op without the
new-Pikmin crash. Also: PS4 controllers on Android, Pikmin sounds back in
Pikmin 2, and a redesigned launcher. Saves, settings, texture packs and maps
carry over.

Updating: press Update in your launcher. On Android, install the new
APK over the old one. Do not uninstall first, or your data is lost.

New: import saves (launcher)

A new Saves page in the launcher's Settings.

  • Import a save from Dolphin or a real GameCube memory card (.gci
export), or an Open Nectar save file from another install. The launcher
checks that it belongs to the right game and region, and tells you
    clearly when it doesn't.
  • Your current save is backed up first, to a card0-backups folder
(the newest 5 are kept). Open backups folder takes you there. If
anything goes wrong during the import, your old save stays as it was.

New: Android data folder

Everything Open Nectar keeps on your phone (installed games, saves,
settings, texture packs, HD models and maps) now lives in a normal folder
on your device storage: Internal storage/OpenNectar by default. You can
open it with any file manager to copy saves or add mods.

  • The first time you open 1.1, the app asks for permission to access
all files. The games need it to open their files. Then it asks which
    folder to use.
  • Everything from your previous version is moved there automatically.
If the move is interrupted, it picks up where it left off next time.
    Nothing is overwritten.
  • Change folder (bottom right of the launcher) moves everything to
another folder at any time, including the SD card.

Fixes

  • Pikmin 2 co-op: crash when Louie found blue or yellow Pikmin (#188).
When player 2 (Louie) whistled new Pikmin for the first time, the
cutscene didn't play and the game crashed. The cutscene now plays with
    Louie in it.
  • Pikmin 2: Pikmin and enemy sounds missing (#135). If the opening
cutscene ended before its first text box (skipped, or with auto-advancing
text), Pikmin and enemy sounds stayed muted for the rest of the session.
  • Android: PS4 controllers only half worked (#177). Only X, Circle,
Options and Share worked, and they couldn't be remapped. Sticks, D-pad,
triggers, Square and Triangle now work too, and so does remapping, in
    both games.
  • Menus behave the same everywhere. Enter, Space and left click
accept. Escape, Backspace and right click cancel. Arrow keys and WASD
both move the cursor. Shift no longer cancels in menus. New configs use
Left Ctrl for the GameCube B button.
  • Touch screens: a tap in a menu is no longer also read as a mouse
    click.
  • Saves are written safely in both games: a crash or power cut while
saving can no longer leave a half-written memory card.
  • More stable rendering and video in Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2: damaged or
unusual game data no longer crashes the graphics, cutscene video or music
    streams.

Launcher

  • New buttons: every button shares one glass "dewdrop" look, with
smooth hover, press and select animations and consistent sizes (#38).
  • Settings stay in the game folder. An installed game keeps the
launcher's settings and cache in its own config and cache folders, so
copying the folder takes everything with it. Turn this off in
Settings > Launcher > Keep settings in the game folder.
  • Portable mode: put an empty portable.txt next to the launcher and
it writes nothing outside its folder. Handy on a USB drive.
  • Pikmin 2 (USA): skip the Health & Safety screen. It's off by
default. Turn it on in Gameplay > Startup (F1 menu or launcher
    settings).

Map editor

  • Import COLLADA (.dae) models, as well as .obj.

Thanks

Thanks to Kyle Nakamura (@knakamura13) for the save import, portable
mode, menu controls and macOS work in this release. Thanks also to everyone
