ES-DE Companion v0.7.0-beta

A follow-up beta release after v0.7.0-alpha, the ground-up rebuild. No migration concerns beyond what alpha already introduced — if you're already on 0.7.0-alpha, this is a drop-in update; your settings, folders, and widget layouts carry over as-is.

What's changed since alpha

Settings and widget editing, consolidated — long-pressing anywhere on the main screen (or tapping the Settings gear) now opens a single popup covering both. Selecting Widgets jumps straight into the widget editor. The old "Lock widget editing" toggle is gone — editing is always reachable this way, so there's nothing to get stuck behind. The popup has a spring-in entrance animation and blurs the screen behind it while open.

Per-widget transitions, plus two new effects — Image/Logo Transitions moved out of global Settings and are now configured individually per widget from its own Configure Widget dialog. Two new independent per-widget toggles came with the move:

• Logo Glint — a periodic light sweep across logo/marquee widgets.
• Pan & Zoom — a slow zoom-and-pan across full-bleed backdrop widgets (System Image, Fan Art, Screenshot, Title Screen).

Freshly-added logo/marquee widgets now default to a Slide transition with Glint on; freshly-added backdrop widgets default to Pan & Zoom on.

App Drawer shortcut for the Dock — the Dock's add-app picker now offers a pinnable "App Drawer" entry for one-tap drawer access alongside your regular pinned apps.

New "Other Settings" category — two additions: Close Companion App on ES-DE Quit (off by default) closes the app automatically when ES-DE quits, and Show Settings Button (on by default) lets you hide the Settings gear icon, since the long-press menu reaches it either way.

Haptics and polish — haptic feedback and smoother transition animations across menus; a blurred backdrop behind the long-press menu; reordered Settings categories.

Fixes — box-art widgets (covers, 3D boxes, mix images, back covers, physical media) no longer try to fade between games; game descriptions load correctly under concurrent access; the music FAB's play/pause and next controls now reliably hit the same playback session; ES-DE's "Populating game systems..." log line is now treated as a reload rather than being misread; app state now correctly resets to idle right when ES-DE starts up, not just on quit.
