2.7.2 - Hotfixes - mpvlib 1.1.1, Track Badges, Pinned Videos, and Font Sharing

Highlights

  • Upgraded the standard and non-Vulkan mpv backends to mpvlib 1.1.1.
  • Pin individual videos to the top of their folder in both the folder and file-tree browsers, in list and grid layouts.
  • The lyrics source sheet now shows a clear status marker for every provider: currently showing, fetching, found, nothing found, failed, or not fetched yet.
  • Added visual track badges for audio and subtitle streams (Default, Forced, External, Descriptive, Mono, and Stereo).
  • Redesigned audio and subtitle selection rows to match the playlist sheet with vibrant gradient outlines and accent highlights.
  • Downloaded Google Fonts are now saved directly to mpv's font directory, making them immediately available for OSD and subtitles, and can be deleted from the font picker.
  • Added independent ambient edge-blending sliders for Glow and YouTube ambient lighting.
  • Cleaned up obsolete mpv configuration options and streamlined subtitle settings.
  • Clipped IconSwitch ripples to the pill shape to prevent press feedback from overflowing.

mpv Core and Playback

  • mpvlib 1.1.1: Upgraded the native mpv library for standard and non-Vulkan distributions.
  • Option and property cleanup: Dropped invalid or dead options (vd-lavc-queue, http-allow-redirect, ytdl-path), corrected dynamic property names, and ensured subtitle languages are passed via sub-add.
  • Ambient edge blending: Added independent edge-blending sliders for Glow and YouTube ambient lighting to smoothly feather illumination into video edges.

Library and Browsing

  • Pinned videos: Select one or more videos and use the pin action in the selection bar to keep them at the top of the folder, ahead of the chosen sort order. Pinned videos show a pin badge on their thumbnail; selecting only pinned videos switches the action to Unpin.

Lyrics

  • Provider status markers: Each lyrics source row now has a colored status chip on the right with an icon and label, and the Auto row shows which provider is currently supplying the lyrics.
  • Failures told apart from misses: Providers that time out or error are now reported as Failed instead of being treated as having no lyrics, and providers that answered empty during the automatic search are marked as Nothing found.

Subtitles, Audio, and Fonts

  • Track badges: Added clear badges indicating default, forced, external, descriptive, mono, and stereo tracks across audio and subtitle sheets.
  • Track selection styling: Unified audio and subtitle track rows with playlist-style active indicators, featuring a themed accent fill and gradient outline.
  • Direct font sharing with mpv: Downloaded Google Fonts are written directly to mpv's configuration fonts directory, enabling instant subtitle and OSD rendering without manual font mapping.
  • Delete downloaded fonts: Each downloaded font in the picker has a delete button on the right; deleting the active font falls back to the built-in Google Sans Flex.
  • Streamlined subtitle preferences: Reorganized typography cards and removed redundant secondary subtitle options for a cleaner settings experience.

User Interface and Interaction

  • IconSwitch clipping: Confined touch-interaction ripples to the rounded switch pill so press feedback stays strictly within bounds.
  • Sheet refinements: Polished layout, typography, and scrolling in the lyrics provider and Google Fonts picker sheets.

Fixes

  • Seeking with controls shown: Swipe seeking no longer hides the seekbar, bottom buttons, and custom Lua buttons while the full controls are visible; they now auto-hide after the normal timeout even mid-seek.
  • Online subtitle search: The search field can be edited again, and it stays above the keyboard while typing.
  • Text input in player sheets: Text fields inside player bottom sheets can take focus and receive keyboard input again.
  • Bookmarks: Bookmark names no longer accumulate past bookmark titles.
  • Image viewer: Pinch zoom now anchors inside the picture rather than the letterbox area.

APK variants

All variants contain the same mpvRx app version and features, with their native backends built from mpvlib Android. Choose the package that best matches your device:

  • Standard (mpvRx-<architecture>-<version>.apk): Recommended for most devices. Available as Universal and architecture-specific APKs with the standard Vulkan-capable playback backend.
  • FongMi (mpvRx-fongmi-<version>.apk): Universal package using the FongMi native profile for Vulkan, direct MediaCodec, and Dolby Vision playback.
  • Non-Vulkan (mpvRx-no-vulkan-<version>.apk): Universal OpenGL-only package for devices without compatible Vulkan support or with unstable legacy GPU drivers.
