github RayLabsHQ/gitea-mirror v3.35.0

latest release: v3.35.1

Features

  • Mirror public organizations without connecting an account. With only a destination configured, the Add Organization dialog offers a Public only mode: pick GitHub, GitLab or Gitea/Forgejo, optionally point at a self-hosted instance, type the organization name, and its public repositories are imported anonymously. Behind it a tokenless source row is created for that provider and host and the organization is pinned to it, so per-source attribution, locks, scheduling and cleanup keep working exactly as they do for a connected account. Anonymous GitHub clients carry the same throttling and rate-limit backoff as authenticated ones. Adding a username and token to that row later turns it into a regular source without touching the organizations already pinned to it. Thanks to @TomRoyls. (#409)

Changes

  • Mirroring, syncing, retrying, scheduling and crash recovery now require only the destination token. A source that has no account (a public-only one) no longer blocks the Sync button, the scheduler, or the recovery of an interrupted job. (#409, #411)
  • Issue, pull request, label and milestone mirroring runs with whatever client the repository's own source provides, so public metadata mirrors for tokenless sources instead of failing with a configuration error on every sync. (#411)
  • Import Data skips public-only sources instead of reporting them as failed, and says so when every connected source is public only. (#411)
  • Re-adding an existing organization with force no longer moves its source pin unless the request names a source. Pins set from the organization card, and organizations left on every source, stay as they are. (#411)
  • The Public only badge appears as soon as a public organization is added, without reloading the page. (#411)
  • Organization cards keep their column width when only one or two are shown, instead of stretching across the page. (#410)

Notes

  • No migration in this release. Tokenless sources reuse the existing nullable token column, and there are no new environment variables.
  • Anonymous GitHub access is limited to 60 requests an hour per IP, shared by everyone using an instance, so a public-only setup mirrors more slowly than a connected one and metadata for large organizations can take several scheduler runs to catch up.
  • Public-only sources mirror public repositories only: private repositories, starred lists and personal discovery need a token.
  • Back up data/gitea-mirror.db before upgrading, as with every release.
