v2.9.2

New

GITC Uplift

  • New Neural Rendering method: GITC Uplift by ghostinthecamera. It brings NVIDIA's DLSS Neural Rendering to almost any game on an RTX card, even games that don't support DLSS at all: DirectX 9 to 12, Vulkan and OpenGL, 64-bit and 32-bit.
  • Built for performance and ease of use: drop it in, switch it on. Choose a Look, keep characters' faces true to the original with Keep faces, and lower the Resolution to trade a little detail for more speed and less video memory. A status card in ReShade tells you whether it's working and, if not, what to fix.
  • It now replaces DLSS5 Feeder as the default method for 64-bit DX11, DX12 and Vulkan games without DLSS. Games that already have a method keep theirs.
  • Install it from the Neural Rendering section, then in game open ReShade (Home), go to the GITC Uplift tab and tick Enable. For single-player games only.
  • Uplift Version lets you follow the latest release or stay on one. RHI keeps it up to date, and only removes its own files when you uninstall or switch method.
  • OpenGL games such as OpenMW are set up for it automatically, so it works with anti-aliasing on.

Steam and Xbox achievements (Spotlight)

  • Turn them on in Settings › Achievements. The Spotlight page then shows your progress, latest unlock and recent unlocks under the Launch button. Click it for the full list with unlock dates, rarity and search. Hidden achievements stay hidden until you unlock them.
  • Steam: read from Steam's files on your PC, so no sign-in or public profile is needed. A game shows its achievements once you've run it on this PC.
  • Xbox and Game Pass: read from the Xbox app, with Gamerscore and progress too. If a game shows nothing or misses recent unlocks, open its page in the Xbox app once.

Game collections

  • Make your own lists of games, like Racing or Souls-likes: right-click a game (X on a controller) and choose Add to collection. A game can be in as many collections as you like.
  • Your collections show as buttons above the game list (beside the search box in Spotlight). Click one to show only its games, and click it again to show everything. Right-click one to rename, move or delete it. Deleting a collection never removes any games.
  • On a controller, click the right stick to switch between your collections.

Custom OptiScaler builds

  • Use any OptiScaler build you like. Add one in Settings › Components › Custom OptiScaler builds from a download link (GitHub, Discord or anywhere else), a zip, 7z or rar file, a folder, or just an OptiScaler.dll. You can also drag the file onto RHI.
  • Then pick it as the Version in a game's OptiScaler ⚙, or as your Default version. It installs and uninstalls like the built-in versions and keeps your OptiScaler settings.
  • RHI never updates custom builds. When a new version comes out, use Replace and RHI offers to update the games that use it.
  • Adding a Neural Rendering fork? Tick DLSS NR DLL on it so RHI adds NVIDIA's Neural Rendering file too.
  • Only add builds from people you trust.

More OptiScaler versions

  • Popular OptiScaler forks now sit alongside Stable, Nightly, DLSS NR and F5 DLSSNR: Venom, NR PreSR MFG and OpenNR to start with. RHI downloads them and keeps them up to date like the others, and more can be added without an RHI update.

Changes

OptiScaler

  • The OptiScaler ⚙ shows the version you have and the latest one, with Check now to look for an update straight away and Update to install it.
  • New Release setting in the OptiScaler ⚙: keep a game on an older release of Stable, DLSS NR, F5 DLSSNR or a fork. Pinned games aren't updated.
  • New Remove old Nightly builds option (Settings › Components › OptiScaler, off by default). Every Nightly build RHI downloads takes 200-300 MB, so turn this on to delete old ones automatically. The newest build and any build a game is pinned to are kept.

Moving games

  • After Change install folder or Reset install folder, RHI offers to move the game's mods, settings and presets to the new folder. When RHI corrects a folder itself, it moves them automatically. Nothing is moved while the game is running.

Spotlight

  • New Covers at bottom button (right of the search box) moves the game covers, search and filters below the game page. Click Covers at top to undo. The controller follows the layout.
  • The Filters button is now a small filter icon to the left of All / Installed / Favourites / Hidden.
  • The game banner gets taller on wide windows (ultrawide screens, or a small interface size), so its artwork is no longer cropped to a thin, zoomed-in strip.
  • Resize the banner and the game covers with the mouse: drag the banner's bottom edge, or the edge of the cover strip facing the game page, and they change size as you drag. RHI remembers the sizes. Double-click an edge to reset it.
  • Hold the left mouse button on the game covers and drag left or right to scroll through them. A click still selects a game.

Controller

  • Steam Controllers now work with no setup: the new one and the original, by USB or wireless dongle. This is still a work in progress.
  • Button hints now sit in the bottom bar instead of floating over the page.

Interface size

  • Interface size (Settings › General, or Ctrl + mouse wheel) now changes in smaller 5% steps and goes up to 200%.

Other

  • What's New: the search box is now a small box above the version list, so the notes are taller. The arrow on the left hides the versions and search to widen the notes, and + and − change the text size. RHI remembers both.
  • With a GitHub token (Settings › Accounts & Data), RHI now checks for updates every hour while it's open instead of every 4 hours. Without a token it stays at every 4 hours, because GitHub allows far fewer requests without one.
  • MFG Ada Unlock is now called MFG Unlock, to match the mod. It brings DLSS frame generation to RTX 20 and 30 Series cards (experimental). Your installs and settings carry over.
  • Support the Mod Authors (Help › Donate) can show both Ko-fi and Patreon buttons for an author.

Bug Fixes

Performance

  • Fixed RHI showing "Not Responding" for a minute or more, and sometimes restarting itself, while a demanding game was running.

OptiScaler

  • Fixed F5 DLSSNR, DLSS NR and Nightly installing an old downloaded copy when a newer release was out (for example F5 0.1.29 instead of 0.1.37), even after reinstalling.
  • Fixed a fresh F5 DLSSNR install skipping your Streamline, DLSS Enabler and frame generation settings.
  • Fixed updating F5 DLSSNR not updating its Neural Rendering file, and updating DLSS NR replacing the NR Runtime you picked.
  • Fixed F5 DLSSNR showing the Stable version number on some games, and not being downloaded at startup like the other versions.

Running games

  • Fixed RHI tracking a game's crash reporter instead of the game itself (Phantom Blade Zero and other Unreal Engine games from Steam or Epic). The game could show as running after it closed, and HDR and resolution could switch back at the wrong time.

Game detection

  • Fixed some games from the new Epic Games launcher not being found (for example Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2).
  • Fixed Launch doing nothing for some Epic games (for example Alan Wake 2): RHI now starts them the same way Epic's own desktop shortcuts do.
  • Fixed some games being detected as DirectX 12 when they aren't (for example OpenMW, which uses OpenGL), so the wrong ReShade setup was offered.

Install folders and DLSS

  • Fixed Reset install folder going back to the folder you picked instead of the one RHI found.
  • Fixed the game header still showing the old folder after you changed it.
  • Fixed DLSS / Streamline finding no files for some Unreal Engine games (for example Phantom Blade Zero), including after their install folder was changed.

Updates

  • Fixed RE Framework getting stuck on an older version once GitHub's hourly limit was reached (without a GitHub token).
  • Fixed Check for updates spinning forever when GitHub's website was slow to respond. RHI now stops waiting for GitHub's pages after 30 seconds and carries on without them, and the check tells you when it's waiting for RHI's game scan to finish.

Game Overrides

  • Fixed changing the ReShade DLL name renaming Display Commander's file to "--------" (or the other way round). Games this happened to are fixed the next time you open them.

Display

  • Fixed games using RTX HDR or Auto HDR showing "—" instead of RTX HDR or Auto HDR on the RenoDX row, the Overview card and Spotlight.
  • Fixed hard-to-read headings in What's New, the message of the day and mod release notes when Windows is in Light mode.
  • Fixed the Luma filter chip being cut off when Filters is open.
  • Fixed dropping a ReShade preset onto RHI failing with "Storage Error ... being used by another process" when the preset came from RHI's own presets folder.
  • Fixed the version numbers on the Tabs and Spotlight component cards not opening the mod's page when clicked, and not showing the hand cursor.

Manifest Updates

  • Support the Mod Authors: Ko-fi links for Kronir and Vaxis (Ultra+), and Patreon links for Lazorr and SammiLucia.
