RushOfPCVR v0.3.6 DS Build

pre-release4 hours ago

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood in VR on a Windows PC, shown in a Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop.
Bring your own copy of the game (US release, CUSA03683, version 1.00); nothing of it is included.

What's new

  • A new start-up window: dark and gritty, with its own title bar (minimize, close, drag by the banner), a status line along the bottom that shows what the game will start with, a banner with the edition and version, and smoother switches, sliders and buttons.
  • The emulator itself is that of 0.3.5; the game plays as before.
  • The "Controllers" card is still greyed out in this free edition (it is for the separate Motion edition). The DualSense is the controller here.

What you need

A Meta Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop, a PS5 DualSense connected to the PC, a Windows 10/11 PC with a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card (an RTX 4080 laptop was used), and the game. Set Virtual Desktop's frame rate to 120, then start Play Rush of Blood.bat. See the README in the zip.

HOW TO UPDATE

Quickest, if you already have DS 0.3.5 or 0.3.6:

  1. Close the game and the start-up window.

  2. Open the new zip and go to its pc-vr folder.

  3. Copy launch.ps1 from there into the pc-vr folder of your existing install, and choose Replace.

  4. Start "Play Rush of Blood.bat" as usual. The banner should say Free and v0.3.6.

Nothing else needs to change.

Clean install (recommended if you're coming from an older version, or something is acting up):

  1. Unzip the new version to a short path. The game's files have long names, and Windows cannot open them if the full path is over 260 characters.

  2. From your old folder, copy these into the same places in the new one:

  • pc-vr\user, which holds your saves, trophies, controller settings and shader cache

  • pc-vr\settings.txt, which holds your resolution, field of view, controller sliders and other choices

  • your game, from the "games" folder, or just point the launcher at it when its window asks

  1. Start "Play Rush of Blood.bat". Your settings should come up exactly as you left them.

Things to know:

  • Don't copy the old pc-vr\user over the new one in the other direction, and don't mix the free and Motion zips in one folder. Motion is the one with a file called edition.txt in pc-vr. Without it, the Controllers card stays greyed out.

  • If your settings look reset, you started from the new zip's default settings.txt. Copy yours back over it.

  • The first start after an update can take a few extra seconds while the new window is built.

  • If the window doesn't appear, the launcher shows a message with the reason and the game starts with your saved settings. Send me that message.
