What's new
Open the host menu, and waking a sleeping PC
- "Open host menu" in the stream menu opens the PC's couch menu on a Rubylight host that offers it.
- Wake-on-LAN now reaches every network adapter of the PC and resends for 90 seconds, with a "Waking …" card on desktop.
Sleep PC from the client on Android and desktop, offered only when the host advertises it.
Faster decoding on Android and desktop
- Android: the video decode thread runs at a higher priority, the performance hint covers the submit thread, frame statistics no longer allocate, frames are handed to the decoder in direct buffers, PyroWave acquires its next swapchain image early, and the GPU waits for the decoder on its sync fd. These switches are on by default. Experimental per-chipset tuning for MediaTek and Exynos and a GPU boost for PyroWave are included.
- Desktop: pooled packet buffers, and on Linux VAAPI uploads straight from the mapping.
Client roaming (Experimental) keeps a stream alive when the phone switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data. It is on by default, "Continue on mobile data" is off, and it does nothing until a host advertises roaming. No released Rubylight does yet.
Desktop has a PC page for each host.
Fixes
- TV design fixes: roomier settings, true black on OLED, toggles no longer clipped, and keycap hints. Thanks to @VirtualGIT20 for the design feedback (#7).
- A stalled TLS upload or download now fails after the idle timeout on Linux too (#39).
Tested. Lint, the unit tests and the desktop checks pass in CI on the tagged commit. The decoding changes have no device measurements yet, and the roaming and wake changes have not been run on a phone against a host that supports them; the new translations are machine-drafted.
The APKs are signed by CI with the Nightjar release key; the desktop packages (Windows zip, Linux tar.gz) are not signed. SHA-256 hashes of everything are in SHA256SUMS-3.2.2.txt.
