This release improves frame pacing and playback recovery after brief stalls.
- Fractional frame rates stay accurate. Negotiated rates such as 119.88 FPS are preserved through decoder pacing, stream reconfiguration and Android display-rate requests.
- Bounded decoder catch-up. Catch-up work is limited before presenting the next available frame, avoiding a prolonged run of discarded decoded frames after a short stall. Compressed reference frames remain intact.
- More reliable Balanced pacing. Frame replacement is coordinated with display polling, avoiding temporary queue gaps and unnecessary extra drops.
- Background timing feedback. On hosts that support timing feedback, reports are sent away from the video presentation thread so control-channel contention cannot hold up that thread.
- Fresher adaptive-quality decisions. Decoder timing samples used for quality adjustments are checked for freshness.
These fixes have automated regression coverage; results depend on the device, host and workload. No new hardware latency measurements are claimed.
Install nightjar-0.7.8.apk over your current installation to keep paired PCs and settings. The -root.apk is the legacy rooted build for Android 5.0–7.1. The AAB and SHA-256 checksums are also included.
