PSBox Cloud Gaming is a native Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) client for jailbroken PS5 consoles: browse the cloud catalog and the games you own, and stream them at 1080p60 with sound, using the DualSense as an Xbox controller.

Unofficial project, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Microsoft or Sony. You need a Microsoft account with a subscription that includes cloud gaming (Game Pass Ultimate).

Installation

  1. Extract PPSA99810.zip and copy the PPSA99810 folder, as a whole, to /data/homebrew/ on the PS5 (replacing the old one keeps your sign-in and settings).
  2. Wait for the loader (e.g. ShadowMountPlus) to add the PSBox Cloud Gaming icon to the Home screen, then launch it.
  3. Sign in: open https://www.microsoft.com/link on your phone or computer (or scan the QR code) and enter the code shown on the TV.

Full instructions, controls and troubleshooting are in PPSA99810/README.txt. The sign-in is saved in PPSA99810/account.json: never share that file or attach it to an issue.

What's new in v0.4.0

Game menu (OPTIONS + TOUCHPAD during a game)

  • Resume, a statistics line over the game, sharpness (off / low / medium / high), stream resolution changed in a few seconds without leaving the game, refresh the picture, and leave the game.
  • The connection at a glance: region, latency, bitrate, picture size and frame rate, packet loss, decode time, and the controllers in use.

Typing in games

  • When a game asks for text (a name, a chat message), the PS5's own keyboard opens and what you type goes to the game.

Sharper, steadier picture

  • The app now reports each frame's timings to the server, as the official client does: the server keeps the stream at full quality instead of lowering it after quiet moments.
  • Sharpness filter (AMD FidelityFX CAS, as Better xCloud's Clarity boost).
  • The 720p setting now really streams at 720p.

DualSense

  • Trigger vibration: games that vibrate the Xbox triggers (e.g. Halo Infinite's shots) vibrate the DualSense's adaptive triggers.
  • Local multiplayer: up to four controllers. Turn on another DualSense and sign in to the PS5 with another user; it joins the game as the next player. The controllers in use are shown numbered, in their light-bar colours, at the bottom left of the home screen and in the game menu, with a notification when one joins or leaves.
  • New settings: stick dead zone, trigger vibration on/off, and Circle as the confirm button.

Also

  • A notification when a newer version is out.

Tested on one console over Wi-Fi.

Known limitations

  • Software video decoding; no HDR, no 4K.
  • 1080p HQ and 1440p are only streamed where Microsoft grants them; otherwise you get 1080p.
  • Some games ignore a second controller (e.g. Rivals of Aether).
  • Games can't be bought from the console: the PS5 browser can't run the xbox.com store, so use the QR code.
