Play as a Hunter in UNSC vs Covenant

Choose Hunter on the Covenant class screen for 700 deployment points. Hunters carry a particle cannon, have 400% durability and use a third-person camera. The Covenant can field one Hunter at a time.

Changes

  • Everyone in a game needs 0.9.12. Servers admit only players on exactly their own version, so players and servers on 0.9.12 can't play with those on 0.9.11 or older. The server browser's Version column shows a server on another version in red. Update dedicated servers and players together.

Bug fixes

  • Keep players with blank names visible on the scoreboard. Invisible filler characters can no longer be used in player names, and servers refuse new connections that submit them. Updating repairs affected saved names without changing the player's identity. Players already in a roster with an invalid name stay visible as "Player" on the scoreboard and in match results, and remain available for moderation.

  • Blue helmet fire on Linux dedicated servers. Fix a crash on Linux servers running under Wine when a player wearing blue helmet fire joins. Both helmet fire colors are supported, subject to the player's cosmetic unlocks.

  • Show selected helmet fire in solo campaign. Normal and blue helmet fire now follow your saved selection and cosmetic unlocks when playing solo campaign as your customized Spartan. Fire stays hidden in first person and when switched off. An unavailable stats service keeps valid cached unlocks; without a valid cache, all cosmetics are available.

  • Fix dedicated campaign startup. Dedicated servers can start Crow's Nest, Tsavo Highway, The Storm, The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo without crashing before players join. Campaign mods with renamed mission files or added mission IDs no longer fail during startup map selection.

Known limitation: dedicated campaign games can still repeatedly synchronize or crash during checkpoint reloads as players join or leave. These startup fixes do not resolve that separate issue.

  • Respect helmet fire unlocks with the default stats server. The default stats server and other HTTP or HTTPS stats services can now verify helmet fire unlocks. In Customize → Helmet fire, colors without a grant show as locked. A locked selection is hidden from other players; nobody is removed from a game for it. If verification is unavailable, valid cached results apply until they expire; without a valid result, all cosmetics are available. Fire stays off until you select a color.

  • Protect hosts and admins from vote kicks and betrayal boots. Hosts and server admins cannot be vote-kicked, including through RCON votes, or booted for betrayals. Betrayal protection also covers split-screen players sharing their connection.

Install

The game client requires Halo: The Master Chief Collection with Halo 3 installed; no game files are included.

Double-click project-reclaimer-v0.9.12.exe to start the game. It finds Halo 3 in any Steam library and opens without a console window; its log is Documents\My Games\Project Reclaimer\Logs\client.log.

For remote server administration, double-click reclaimer-rcon-v0.9.12.exe, enter the host, RCON port and password, and connect. The RCON client needs no game installation. See the attached RCON.md for setup and commands.
