A magnet link no longer has to find its metadata before it can be added.
The Add dialog opens at once, and the file list fills in if the details
arrive while it is open; press Add before they do and the torrent goes in
anyway, shown as "Downloading metadata" until a peer sends them - the way
qBittorrent does it. Such a torrent can be stopped, started and removed like
any other, and one still waiting when NanoTorrent closes carries on waiting
after the next start. Before, the dialog waited up to a minute and a half
with nothing but a notice on screen, and a magnet nobody answered in that
time was never shown a dialog at all.The same goes for magnets added from the web interface, a plugin or the
command line: they appear in the list straight away instead of only once
their metadata has arrived. -
Portable mode has a switch:
nanotorrent --portablekeeps the settings,
torrents and logs beside the program from then on, by writing a
portable.txt there - so it stays portable however it is started, from a
shortcut, a magnet link or a .torrent file. Delete the file to go back. It
worked before only for those who knew to create that file by hand. The first start of a new portable copy offers to copy the existing profile
across, or to start fresh - once. An encrypted profile is copied unencrypted,
because its key only opens it on this Windows account. A portable copy now
runs alongside the installed one instead of handing everything to it, and an
AppImage keeps its portable profile beside the .AppImage file rather than in
the temporary folder it runs from. A folder that cannot be written to, and
the Microsoft Store version, say so instead of quietly using the normal
profile. -
The Windows installer's information page reads properly. It is made from
README.md, and the conversion passed on what only GitHub understands: the
title began with a raw tag in heading-sized type, the screenshot
gallery came out as a column of image tags, and italics kept their
asterisks. Pictures are now left out and their captions kept, bullets line
up with their own wrapped lines, nested lists are indented, and every
paragraph goes back to the body size so one heading cannot resize the rest.
Under the hood: rustls-pemfile, which is no longer maintained, is gone - rustls
reads the certificate and key itself - and a round of dead code and duplicated
helpers was removed.
