Web interface
- Live updates over server-sent events instead of polling. The browser is told when something changes rather than asking four times a second, so the page reacts instantly and costs a fraction of the processor time (measured over 20s: 703ms polling, 188ms now, 94ms idle).
- Connection indicator: green when the browser is in touch with NanoTorrent, red when it is not, reconnecting on its own without a reload.
- Connected-client count, shown both in the web interface and in the desktop status bar.
- Pagination for the torrent list: 100, 250, 500, a number of your own, or all on one page.
- Sorting across every page — by name, size, progress, status, upload, download, peers or ratio — not just within the page you are looking at.
- The pager sits on one line instead of wrapping.
Desktop
- The details panel fills as soon as you click a torrent, and when you switch tab. It used to wait for the next refresh, leaving the previous torrent's peers and trackers on screen for up to a second.
- A loading overlay covers the details panel while it fills, with clicks disabled until it is done.
- Preferences is tabbed like the details panel, with an icon on each tab.
- Tab strips scroll sideways when the tabs do not fit, so no tab is unreachable in a language with longer words.
- Preferences is wider, and its scrollbars no longer overlap the tabs, the content or the dropdowns.
- More room at the bottom of the torrent list, and the list's vertical scrollbar no longer draws over the last column.
- Closing a window really closes it. Dialogs were hidden and kept, so reopening one popped it up with no fade and whatever the last open had left in it.
- New menu entry: Help > Plugin API documentation.
Fixes
- Paused torrents no longer re-create their files at startup. Restoring a session adds every torrent paused and resumes the ones that were running, and the storage layer opened — and created — every file of every torrent regardless. A torrent whose data had been deleted or moved to another drive then failed its check against the empty files that had just been made for it, and came back at 0%. Files are now created when a torrent starts, and the check that verifies them runs there too (engine patch 0016).
- Preferences shows the language you chose instead of always showing English.
- Every open window re-translates when you press Ok, not just the main one.
- Strings that had been left in English are translated across the locales.
Under the hood
- quick-xml 0.42 and a full dependency refresh.
- Clippy clean at
--all-targets; 208 tests pass. - Known advisory RUSTSEC-2026-0258 (h2 0.3, graded LOW) is unfixable from here: actix-http 3.13.5 is the newest published and still pins h2 0.3, whose last release never got the backport. Documented in Cargo.toml.
