Fix OSFMount Not Detected by PS5 FPKG Builder
PS5 FPKG Builder can optionally use OSFMount to mount .exfat, .ffpfs, .ffpkg, and related image formats without extracting the full image first.
If you see one of these messages:
OSFMount: driver not installed
OSFMount: driver disabled
OSFMount: run as administrator
follow the steps below.
1. Install the official version
Download and install OSFMount from the official website:
https://www.osforensics.com/tools/mount-disk-images.html
During installation, allow the OSFMount driver to be installed.
2. Restart Windows
After installing OSFMount, restart your PC.
This is important because the OSFMount driver can remain loaded or blocked until Windows restarts.
3. Run PS5 FPKG Builder as administrator
Right-click:
PS5 FPKG Builder.exe
Then choose:
Run as administrator
OSFMount requires administrator permission to mount images.
If the app shows:
OSFMount: run as administrator
it means OSFMount was detected, but PS5 FPKG Builder was not started with administrator privileges.
4. Check if OSFMount exists
Open PowerShell as administrator and run:
Test-Path "C:\Program Files\OSFMount\OSFMount.com"If it returns:
True
the OSFMount executable was found.
If it returns:
False
reinstall OSFMount using the official installer.
5. Check if the driver exists
Still in PowerShell as administrator, run:
Get-ChildItem "C:\Program Files\OSFMount" -Filter osfdisk.inf -RecurseIf you see a path similar to:
C:\Program Files\OSFMount\win10\osfdisk.inf
the driver package is present.
6. Reinstall the driver manually
In PowerShell as administrator, run:
pnputil /add-driver "C:\Program Files\OSFMount\win10\osfdisk.inf" /installThen restart Windows again.
7. If it still says the driver is not installed
Open Device Manager:
devmgmt.mscThen go to:
Action > Add legacy hardware
Choose:
Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
Then:
Show All Devices > Have Disk
Point it to:
C:\Program Files\OSFMount\win10\osfdisk.inf
Finish the installation and restart Windows.
8. Test again
Open PS5 FPKG Builder as administrator.
The expected status is:
OSFMount: ready
Quick diagnostics
Use these commands in PowerShell as administrator:
Test-Path "C:\Program Files\OSFMount\OSFMount.com"
Get-ChildItem "C:\Program Files\OSFMount" -Filter osfdisk.inf -Recurse
pnputil /enum-drivers | Select-String -Pattern "osfdisk","OSFMount"If osfdisk.inf exists but the app still reports the driver as missing, the legacy adapter ROOT\osfdisk was probably not created. In that case, use step 7.
Notes
- OSFMount is optional. If it is not working, PS5 FPKG Builder uses the internal method.
- For large files, OSFMount can be faster because it avoids extracting the entire image before the build.
- If you see a driver disabled error, reinstall OSFMount, restart Windows, and run PS5 FPKG Builder as administrator.
- The official OSFMount page recommends restarting and reinstalling if there is an
osfmount.syserror or disabled driver error.
