Beta Support for Android TV Remote Integration

latest releases: v3.4.1, v3.4.0, v3.4.0b1...
pre-release12 months ago

BETA TIME!

Please note: These improvements WILL NOT WORK with Fire TV Devices. Also, these speed improvements are so good on the NVIDIA Shield, and the Xiaomi Mi box that you might cry a little tear of joy

Follow a few steps first:

  • KEEP your Android Debug Bridge (formerly known as AndroidTV) integration, do not delete it
  • ADD an Android TV Remote Integration that points to the SAME DEVICE, you will need both for now
  • Download the newest pre-release of Firemote, version 2.2.0-b1
  • Edit a current (or start a new) Firemote card, keeping/adding the Android Debug Bridge Entity (formerly known as the Android TV Entity) and also attach your new Android TV Remote entity under the section "Associated Android TV Remote Entity: (optional)"
  • Hit save, and enjoy the speed!
  • Take notes of any issues you come across

Known issues:

  • The new Android TV Remote integration does not work with Fire TV Devices right now. home-assistant/core#92656
  • I updated the way Firemote checks for an active app to use the new Android TV Remote integration instead of using the slower Android Debug bridge integration. The responsiveness of app buttons lighting up or turning off is a lot better. However, when you turn your device off, the Android TV Remote integration might still show that there is an app active. I opened an issue request for the maintainer to look at that. home-assistant/core#92658
