Happy 25th anniversary to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2! I spent the last month or so trying to clear out as many issues as I could. The result is what I think is finally a truly definitive version of this game.
Features
- Added experimental THPS1 mode
- Replaces the career with THPS1's career, featuring classic goals and similar skater progression
- Enable the THPS1 Career in the config app or pass
-thps1careerto THPS2.exe - THPS1 mode uses separate saves to prevent progression issues)
- Restored Player Controls menu in Options, providing vibration and autokick settings in-game
- Removed old autokick and vibration hacks now that those settings are accessible in-game
- Enabled DPI awareness, allowing the game to run at the correct size on scaled displays
- Made config app also DPI-aware, for consistency's sake
- Experimental: Made dots and lines scale to be more visible when playing at high resolutions.
- All supported GPUs should support line scaling, but there's a chance they won't.
Fixes
- Fixed draw order/depth issues in most/many places in-game (for example, the NYC awnings now show their logos)
- Fixed looping sounds from vehicles constantly restarting when more than one vehicle was present in the level (the NYC train and Philadelpha bus)
- Partially fixed terrain particles being miscolored
- Fixed certain effects failing to mirror in mirror mode
- Adjusted level goal percentage text positioning to match PSX
- Fixed skater name appearing too small on the stats menu
- Fixed certain mismatched or missing sounds in THPS1 levels
- Fixed game locking when starting a multiplayer game
- Fixed solid geometry appearing extremely slightly transparent. that's an embarrassing one...
Thanks to everyone continuing to play this game 25 years later, thank you to LTI Gray Matter for making this PC port, and most importantly, thank you to Neversoft for creating one of the greatest games of all time.
