github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.9.2-preview3

pre-release4 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (optional; the v2.9.0 Agent, unchanged in v2.9.1, v2.9.2-preview1, v2.9.2-preview2, and v2.9.2-preview3): if you skipped v2.9.0, its Agent reads a UniFi Cable Internet's signal levels. It only matters on a site with a UCI, for the Agent on your UniFi Gateway. Open Settings - Multi-Site, expand your site, and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command, or run the upgrade command yourself. If you updated on v2.9.0-preview9, or on v2.9.0 or v2.9.1, you're set.

Preview of what's coming in the next patch. See v2.9.1 for the latest release.

Performance Tweaks' database tweaks no longer set off alerts while UniFi Network is stopped, a UniFi OS console that lost power no longer reads as an old firmware upgrade, Roam is no longer offered where the AP Agent can't steer, and Network Optimizer keeps your place on the page when it reloads on a phone.

AP Telemetry

  • Fix: Roam failed for a client on an Express adopted as an AP - the Express gives the AP Agent no way to steer clients, so Client Performance no longer offers Roam for a client on one.

Dashboard

  • Fix: a power loss read as an old firmware upgrade - when a UniFi OS console lost power, the restart reason on its Dashboard device card could name a firmware upgrade from weeks before (seen on an Express adopted as an AP). That old upgrade no longer explains a later restart (#1221, thanks @tempeduck for the report).

Performance Tweaks

  • Database tweaks no longer set off alerts - deploying or removing MongoDB on SSD or PostgreSQL on SSD stops UniFi Network for a minute or two, which raised device offline and Console connection alerts. The site's alerts now stay muted while it runs.

Fixes

  • Coming back to Network Optimizer on a phone or tablet put you back at the top of the page - it now opens where you were scrolled, and so does the reload after a restart.

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag. Set it once and future builds - previews and releases - arrive on pull. You no longer need to switch back to :latest when a release ships: :preview gets every release too, so you're always on the newest build.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.9.1 or other releases):

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:preview
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:preview
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Windows: download the MSI installer below

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. dev is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch origin && git checkout dev && git reset --hard origin/dev && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox (assuming you've already installed via the LXC script listed in v2.9.1 or other releases):

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && sed -i -e "s#network-optimizer:latest#network-optimizer:preview#" -e "s#speedtest:latest#speedtest:preview#" docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -a -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
