First preview of v2.9.0. Health checks you write yourself, and an Adaptive SQM fix for gateways where apt can't put bc back after a firmware upgrade.
Monitoring - Setup
- Health Checks - open a device on the Devices card and add a command to run on it over SSH, what counts as a problem, and what to do about it: alert, restart a service, kill a process, or reboot. Test runs it once and shows what it read. Each check gets its own chart on Device Stats.
- UniFi Network JVM GC Thrash - the first template, for Cloud Gateways: catches the Network application stalled in garbage collection (routing fine, UniFi Console unresponsive) and restarts it (#1224, thanks @jakerobb for the report).
Adaptive SQM
- Fix: the download shaper could drop to 0 Mbit after a firmware upgrade - the rate scripts leaned on
bc, an apt package that apt often can't restore after a UniFi OS upgrade; they useawknow, and never write a rate that isn't a positive number. Redeploy Adaptive SQM once (the Adaptive SQM page prompts you).
Installation
Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag. Set it once and future builds - previews and releases - arrive on pull. You no longer need to switch back to :latest when a release ships: :preview gets every release too, so you're always on the newest build.
Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.8.6 or other releases):

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. release/2.9 is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:
