On-Site Agent update (Gateway installs): the measured WAN accounting from preview5 needs a 2.8.0 preview Agent on your UniFi Gateway - if you already updated it on preview5, you're set and there's nothing to do again. Otherwise, open Settings - Multi-Site (your site's agent row) and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command to have the app run it over SSH - or SSH to the Gateway and run it yourself. Either way the install script fetches the newest 2.8.0 preview binary for you and keeps your existing enrollment.

Start with the v2.8.0-preview5 notes, and go back from there for more detail - everything in those builds is in this one, and this note only covers what changed since.

This build is about Wi-Fi 7 MLO mesh. Network Optimizer now shows the backhaul in full - each link on its own, and the combined capacity they add up to - on the AP cards, the topology maps, and speed test traces. You'll need a Wi-Fi 7 mesh pair with UniFi Network's Mesh MLO STR setting on to see any of it; classic single-link mesh is unchanged throughout.

Wi-Fi Optimizer

  • Overview - a meshed AP's Mesh Uplink and Mesh Child blocks now show each MLO link on its own row: band, signal, and link rates, with (MLO) on the label. The child's card gets the full picture even when UniFi Network doesn't report it there.
  • Channels - an MLO backhaul shares a channel on every band it runs on, and that's the link working, not a conflict: Co-Channel Interference and High Power Overlap no longer flag the pair on those channels, and the Mesh badge shows on every band the backhaul occupies, not just the one the child reports.
  • Channel Recommendation - recommendations treat every band of an MLO backhaul as a mesh pair, so they won't move one end of the link without the other.
  • The 6 GHz 320 MHz narrowing suggestion no longer fires for APs carrying a mesh backhaul on 6 GHz - narrowing that band would halve the backhaul.

Monitoring - Live View

  • The 2D and 3D maps show a mesh backhaul at the pair's combined link speed, live and during playback - the hover tooltips tag the reading (MLO) - and the traffic crossing it counts every link.

Speed Test Tracing

On LAN and WAN speed test results with a mesh AP in the path:

  • The AP-to-AP hop is rated at the pair's combined capacity - the links run at the same time, so that's what a test can actually push through - and the bottleneck and expected-speed math use the same figure.
  • The mesh link's tooltip reads Wireless Mesh (MLO): the combined rate, then each link with its band, channel and width, signal, and rates.

Multi-Site

  • Each site agent now shows its LAN IP next to its name, or Gateway when it runs on the UniFi Gateway itself, so you can tell at a glance which box an agent is on.
  • Also changed: the outdated-agent warning now reads Agent needs update; and the button beside it is just Upgrade, since on Gateway installs it opens a one-click run rather than only a command to copy.

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag. Set it once and future builds - previews and releases - arrive on pull. You no longer need to switch back to :latest when a release ships: :preview gets every release too, so you're always on the newest build.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.7.3 or other releases):

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build - after the first time, git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh is enough:
