On-site agents: v2.6.x needs the v2.6.0 agent. Nothing here changes the agent, but multi-WAN monitoring needs the WAN binding it gained then. Older agents show an Update agent prompt; optional on a single-WAN site.
Guidance fixes for monitoring a second WAN, Monitoring cards on a phone, and a current nginx under the speed test. See the v2.6.1 and v2.6.0 release notes for what came before.
Multi-WAN Monitoring - Vantages
- Clearer guidance toward the right agent for your deployment - the card now points at an agent on your UniFi gateway as the simplest way to monitor a second WAN, and the Help box gives advice that matches the prober you actually have instead of opening on the hardest path.
- If you set up a vantage with a LAN agent before this release, check it has a policy-based route - that advice was previously hidden from that setup.
Monitoring
- Upstream Path Discovery no longer merges a discovered host into a hand-added target probed a different way - an HTTPS check could be taken over by a discovered ICMP target and renamed. If one of yours changed its name or probe type on its own, set it back by hand.
- Investigate - Loaded Loss Events works with the chart scoped to LAN, and a first search that finds nothing no longer reports "No older events".
- Card headers, the SNMP device row caret and the Investigate buttons now fit a phone screen.
Speed Test
- Bundled nginx moved to 1.30 - picks up the current CVE fixes, and leaves a legacy 1.26 branch that had stopped getting rebuilds, which had frozen the whole container base image along with it. Docker and Windows pick this up on upgrade.
- External WAN speed test servers update separately - they are built from the same image and are the ones on a public address:
cd /opt/netopt-speed-test && curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/deploy-external-speedtest.sh | bash -s -- --update
macOS Installer
- Homebrew's nginx is left alone unless you pass
--upgrade-nginx- it may be fronting other sites on that Mac. An available update is reported at the end of the run instead.
Installation
Windows: Download the MSI installer below
Docker (Upgrade):
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dmacOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):
git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.shProxmox:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"
# or if you just need to update
pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c "cd /opt/network-optimizer && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d"For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
