github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.11.0-preview12

pre-release3 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (optional, the v2.11.0-preview11 Agent, unchanged in preview12): upgrade it so that Path Localization's traces from an On-Site Agent use 5 probes per hop (an older Agent still traces, at 3): open Settings - Multi-Site, expand your site, and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command. If you haven't updated since before preview6, this one also lets the agent automatically roll back a Change Control change that inadvertently cuts the site off from Network Optimizer, and reconnect within seconds behind a reverse proxy that closes its connection.

Twelfth preview of v2.11.0. See the v2.11.0-preview1 notes for all of the details on Change Control, and the v2.11.0-preview11 notes for what came before this one.

Change Control fixes for YAML uploads: a download uploaded back unchanged, or a file saved before the site's zones changed, no longer fails with errors that block Review Plan. Plus the v2.10.6 work so far: Throughput history on Client Performance.

Change Control

Edit

  • Fix: errors blocked Review Plan on a Download YAML uploaded back unchanged - 242 on one site.
  • Fix: "managed by UniFi", "built into UniFi", or "creates return traffic only with action ALLOW" refused an older file when the site's zones or subnets had changed since it was saved.
  • Fix: "Port: None to " on every switch port with a port profile after an unchanged upload, which also marked Settings, Devices, and Clients edited.
  • Also fixed: a port profile reference written as port, which read as the port number (it is port_profile now, and older files still upload); a plan that failed at apply with no reason given when a custom DoH server name had a space; and "still used by" warnings when one upload deleted a zone and the policies in it.

Review Plan

  • Fix: "Partial: Not applied by UniFi" on a change that did apply, such as a switch port rename.

Changes

  • Fix: empty WAN Latency and WAN Loss lanes on a site where Upstream Path Discovery found no ISP hop, such as behind CGNAT.
  • Fix: hovering or clicking a Timeline marker in a tight bunch picked the one to its left.

Client Performance - Speed

  • Throughput history (also coming in v2.10.6) - the Throughput card gets its own range next to Live, from 1h to 30d: average and peak, the measured WAN share, and the client's speed tests as marks that open their result in Test Results. WAN shows the WAN traffic alone. The page's time filter now heads Speed Tests, the only thing it ever applied to, and follows the card's range.

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag that always gets the latest features and fixes. Set it once and future builds arrive on pull.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.10.5 or other releases):

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:preview
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:preview
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Windows: download the MSI installer below

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. The branch is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch origin && git checkout release/2.11 && git reset --hard origin/release/2.11 && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox (assuming you've already installed via the LXC script listed in v2.10.5 or other releases):

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && sed -i -e "s#network-optimizer:latest#network-optimizer:preview#" -e "s#speedtest:latest#speedtest:preview#" docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -a -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
