github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.11.0-preview10

latest release: v2.10.5
pre-release3 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (optional, the v2.11.0-preview6 Agent, unchanged in preview7-10): if you'll apply Change Control plans on a site behind an On-Site Agent, or the agent sits behind a reverse proxy that closes its connection, upgrade it so that it can automatically roll back a change that inadvertently cuts the site off from Network Optimizer, and reconnect within seconds: open Settings - Multi-Site, expand your site, and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command. If you updated on an earlier preview, this one only adds the faster reconnect (and the IPv4 fallback, if you updated on preview1 or preview2).

Tenth preview of v2.11.0. See the v2.11.0-preview1 notes for all of the details on Change Control, and the v2.11.0-preview9 notes for what came before this one.

DNS checks per network in Security Audit, with guest networks held to the same bar as the rest, zone plans that apply more cleanly on sites behind an On-Site Agent, and each site's Firmware Rollout on the Dashboard's Sites panel. Plus the v2.10.5 work: UDR-5G-Max cellular support, speed test alerts that watch both directions, and a fix for Settings going blank on some Consoles.

Change Control

Review Plan

  • A Reorder step shows where policies move - the same before-and-after neighbors Changes shows, and a policy the plan adds is shown where it lands. Plans saved before this build show the step as before.
  • Also fixed: no plan could be built on a UniFi Console whose firewall policy list repeats a policy; a reorder refused with "api.err.FirewallPolicyNotFound" when the plan also moved one of its policies; a Return to Baseline right after a zone apply that never finished its reorders; and a Roll Back built while the gateway was still provisioning (a plan that writes to the gateway waits for it now, and says so when it stays busy).

Migrate / Restore

  • Set Up Zones mutes device offline and reboot alerts while its zone writes apply. The Console's own alerts still come through.
  • Fix: Set Up Zones read every per-zone copy of a gateway block as a lockout on a site with an On-Site Agent on its gateway.
  • Fix: the Re-address dry run left out a quiet client with its address set on the device when it also had a reservation, so the plan never told you to change it.

Site Health

  • Fix: a few minutes of packet loss sank Site Health for the whole hour - during a big download, or when your LAN lost packets too, which was blamed on the ISP. Past hours recalculate in the background after the upgrade.
  • Loss while your gateway is maxed out is the gateway's, not the ISP's: the top issue names the WAN rate and the gateway's CPU at the time.

Changes

  • Also fixed: the timeline stopped at the moment you opened it instead of following Site Health as the current hour updated; and the WAN Latency and WAN Loss lanes put a full-rate download on the idle line.

Dashboard

  • Sites (Multi-Site) shows each site's Firmware Rollout - a pill ("Rollout running", "Rollout paused", "Rollout complete") on any site with a rollout scheduled or in progress, or one that finished in the last 24 hours. It opens Firmware Rollout on that site, or the finished rollout's report. A site with a rollout running or starting within 24 hours sorts above degraded sites.

Security Audit

  • DoH is checked per network, like DoT and DoQ - a block on one zone no longer counts for the whole site, the DoH row reads Partially Blocked with the networks it misses, and Fix it for me covers the gap.
  • Guest and Hotspot networks get DNS control like any other network, in the audit and in Fix it for me. UniFi's own Hotspot blocks only hold until a guest is authorized, so they don't count as DNS coverage. To leave guest networks out, turn on Allow Guest / Hotspot Public DNS in the Security Audit settings.
  • Fix: Firewall: Gateway Management Exposed with no reason given (also coming in v2.10.5) when a block rule covered the gateway's management ports on that network's own gateway address only (#1329, thanks @PDubya56). The finding names that rule and counts as Recommended with a smaller score impact.
  • Also fixed: Fix it for me added a redundant DNS block for a network with Internet Access off; and a network merely named like a guest network was treated as one.

Monitoring - Cellular Stats

  • UDR-5G-Max support (also coming in v2.10.5, #1336) - Scan for Modems finds its built-in modem, which polls with your Gateway SSH credentials. We built it from the UniFi OS firmware image rather than a live unit, so it hasn't been tested on real hardware yet: if you have one, please let us know how it goes on #1336.

Alerts & Schedule

  • Fix: speed test regression alerts only watched one direction (also coming in v2.10.5) - a To Device or upload drop never raised one.
  • WAN Speed Test: Degradation turns itself on at a site's first successful WAN speed test (also coming in v2.10.5), unless you turned it off or edited it. A Client Speed Test: Regression rule joins the defaults, off.

Multi-Site

  • Fix: saw-tooth latency charts after every restart (also coming in v2.10.5) on a site with two On-Site Agents, which both collected for about a minute. When the collecting Agent dropped, the other also took up to a minute to take over.

Fixes

  • Fix: Settings went blank right after opening on a UniFi Console whose firewall policy list repeats a policy (also coming in v2.10.5, #1333, thanks @chewthrudacord).

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag that always gets the latest features and fixes. Set it once and future builds arrive on pull.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.10.4 or other releases):

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:preview
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:preview
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Windows: download the MSI installer below

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. The branch is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch origin && git checkout release/2.11 && git reset --hard origin/release/2.11 && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox (assuming you've already installed via the LXC script listed in v2.10.4 or other releases):

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && sed -i -e "s#network-optimizer:latest#network-optimizer:preview#" -e "s#speedtest:latest#speedtest:preview#" docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -a -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
