github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.10.3

2 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (the v2.10.3 Agent): if your On-Site Agent never comes online on a host whose IPv6 doesn't work, or sits behind a reverse proxy that closes its connection, update it so it falls back to IPv4 and reconnects within seconds. If you skipped v2.10.1, the update also applies Automatic Blocking Exceptions on a gateway Agent. If you skipped v2.10.0, its Agent also adds WAN Flood Protection (UniFi OS 6.0.x EA), blocking without reprovisioning, and LAN speed test hosting on the gateway, plus link speeds that follow a renegotiation (SNMP) and packet loss testing (WAN Speed Tests) on any Agent. Press Run It for Me under your site in Settings - Multi-Site, or run the upgrade command yourself.

On-Site Agent fixes for hosts whose IPv6 doesn't work, Agents behind a reverse proxy, and sites with two Agents, fewer false partial outage alerts, MikroTik cellular and Richerlink ONT support, Performance Tweaks unlocked on UniFi OS 6.0.16 EA, and incidents that list their alerts. See the v2.10.0, v2.10.1, and v2.10.2 release notes for what's new in v2.10.0+.

Coming Soon

  • Change Control - a history of every configuration change on your sites, with who made it, what it did to your Security Audit, and Roll Back, and an incident lists the changes from the two hours before it. Try it now in v2.11.0-preview6.

Multi-Site

  • Fix: an On-Site Agent that never came online on a host whose IPv6 doesn't work (thanks u/AggravatingBig6751 for the logs) - when the host has an IPv6 address and route but its IPv6 traffic goes nowhere, the agent never tried IPv4, so it could not enroll or connect (its log showed "HttpClient.Timeout of 15 seconds elapsing"). It falls back to IPv4 now, and an agent that can't reach Network Optimizer while enrolling keeps retrying instead of restarting in a loop.
  • Fix: the UniFi Console sat "awaiting the agent" after a reverse proxy dropped the On-Site Agent's connection - about 30 seconds every time, and with some proxies a reconnect could take the Console down again shortly after and fail a speed test or probe running on the new connection. The second half is fixed on the server; the faster reconnect needs the v2.10.3 Agent.
  • Fix: a site with two On-Site Agents lost its UniFi Console when one Agent went dark, even with the other one healthy. The Console now carries on through the other Agent after a short stall.

Monitoring

Network Performance

  • Multi-WAN Monitoring - Vantages follow your gateway's Agent - on a multi-WAN site with an On-Site Agent on the gateway, a vantage whose Agent is removed, or offline for 15 minutes, moves to the gateway's Agent on that WAN instead of leaving its targets unprobed. An Agent that comes back gets its vantages back.
  • Fix: Upstream Path Discovery marked transit hops "Different route" and left them out, when it ran on a Docker On-Site Agent. Pull the new Agent image too: it brings the traceroute that full off-path detection needs.

ISP Health

  • ISP Network score on regional ISPs - an ISP hop farther out than where your ISP hands off to transit no longer costs the full distance penalty, so a clean regional ISP with a distant internal tier stops scoring low on distance alone. Modeled on one tester's site, that's 76 to about 86.

SNMP

  • Fix: a WAN rate spike just under link speed after Network Optimizer restarted, such as 2.3 Gbps on a 2.5 Gbps WAN.

Cellular Stats

  • MikroTik LTE routers on RouterOS 7 support (#1271, thanks @kongkr-code for the output).

ONT Stats

  • Richerlink RL821GWV-D (Airtel India FTTH) support (thanks Srinivas for the traces and his bridge script). It's built from those traces and hasn't run against a live ONT yet.

Alerts & Schedule

  • Fix: a Partial internet outage alert when a few endpoints of one provider went dark - such as two AWS regions while the rest of the WAN answered. A small, scattered partial outage now has to last a few minutes before it alerts; one a monitored path hop confirms, or that covers a large share of the WAN's targets, still alerts within a minute.
  • Incidents list their alerts - an open alert opens on Active Alerts, ringed, and a resolved one shows its message in place. Clicking an alert on the Dashboard's Active Alerts card opens it the same way, and links in alert messages are clickable now.

Firmware Rollout

  • Fix: a device mid-upgrade when a rollout was aborted showed as Upgrading on that plan for good. It settles as Aborted mid-upgrade now.

AP Telemetry

  • Fix: an AP Agent stopped answering after its access point changed IP address without a reboot (a subnet change) - Client Performance, Live View, and the Wi-Fi Optimizer lost its data, and Repair in Settings - AP Telemetry did nothing.

Threat Intelligence

  • Fix: the Trusted Sources Network Lists were rewritten on every sync on a site upgraded to UniFi Network 11. Their contents were always correct, and the rewrites didn't reprovision your gateway.

Performance Tweaks

  • UniFi OS 6.0.16 EA on the UCG line - supported, verified against the UCG-Fiber 6.0.16 firmware image.

Installation

Windows: Download the MSI installer below

Docker (Upgrade):

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):

git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox:

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"
# or if you just need to update
pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
