github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.10.2

2 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (the v2.10.1 Agent, unchanged in v2.10.2): if the On-Site Agent on your UniFi Gateway enforces Automatic Blocking, update it to apply Exceptions. Until then, it keeps dropping the traffic an exception allows. If you skipped v2.10.0, its Agent also adds WAN Flood Protection (UniFi OS 6.0.x EA), blocking without reprovisioning, and LAN speed test hosting on the gateway, plus link speeds that follow a renegotiation (SNMP) and packet loss testing (WAN Speed Tests) on any Agent. Press Run It for Me under your site in Settings - Multi-Site, or run the upgrade command yourself. If you updated on v2.10.1 or v2.11.0-preview1, you're set.

Wi-Fi Optimizer metrics on UniFi Network 11, device offline alerts that check the device actually went dark first, three more cable modems, and fixes to Security Audit acknowledgements and a UniFi Console behind a reverse proxy. See the v2.10.0 and v2.10.1 release notes for what's new in v2.10.0+.

Coming Soon

  • Change Control - a history of every configuration change on your sites, with who made it, what it did to your Security Audit, and Roll Back, and an incident lists the changes from the two hours before it. Try it now in v2.11.0-preview2 (experimental, so make a separate UniFi Network backup first).

Wi-Fi Optimizer

  • Fix: no Wi-Fi metrics on UniFi Network 11 - Network 11 serves its Wi-Fi history from a new API and returns nothing from the old one, so Metrics, Environment, Client Performance's signal history from UniFi Network, and the history Channel Recommendation learns from all came up empty. They read the new API now, and Network 10 is unchanged. Network 11 serves about the last month of this history, so longer ranges show that month.
  • Metrics charts now use the same hover as Monitoring: every line's value at that moment, with a dot on each line.

Alerts & Schedule

  • Device offline is confirmed by ping first. A device that stops reporting to UniFi Network but still passes traffic (a Network restart, an inform URL change) raises Device Not Reporting after 5 minutes, not an offline alert. When most of a site's devices do it together, you get one UniFi Network Not Hearing From Devices alert instead.
  • Fix: an alert open across a restart of Network Optimizer never closed - a device, monitoring target, WAN, or On-Site Agent that came back while it was down stayed offline in Alerts.

UniFi Console Connection

  • Fix: a UniFi Console behind a reverse proxy showed as connected while it was down - every page signed in to it again, enough to hit the Console's login attempt limit.

Security Audit

  • Fix: acknowledging a firewall, DNS, or network finding hid every finding with that title (#1314, thanks @Mancolt). Those dismissals come back once, to be acknowledged again one by one.
  • Also fixed: a network read as DHCP off on a console that stores the setting as text, which skipped its DHCP checks.

Monitoring

Cable Modem Stats

  • FRITZ!Box Cable support, verified on a FRITZ!Box 6690 Cable with FRITZ!OS 8.40 (#1299, thanks @gmdfalk). Other FRITZ!Box Cable models and firmware are untested so far.
  • ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 support (thanks Conlan for the HAR), picked up automatically by the ARRIS Surfboard (HTTP) provider.
  • Xfinity XB7 (CGM4331) support (thanks @papisosa for the HAR), and port 443 now connects to the Xfinity, Comcast Business, and Cox gateways over HTTPS.

Live View

  • Fix: double-clicking a client on the map opened nothing until a reload, for a client that appeared before its DHCP lease or from the AP Agent's live overlay.

License

  • A rolling Change Date - from v2.10.2 on, each version converts to Apache 2.0 three years after it's published. Versions already released keep their 2028-01-01 Change Date.

Installation

Windows: Download the MSI installer below

Docker (Upgrade):

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):

git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox:

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"
# or if you just need to update
pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
