github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.10.0-preview5

pre-release6 hours ago

On-Site Agent update (optional): preview5's Agent matters on your UniFi Gateway with Automatic Blocking on. It applies blocks without reprovisioning the gateway, and it feeds device block events to Threat Intelligence. If you skipped earlier previews, the same upgrade covers two more cases. On an Agent that runs WAN Speed Tests, it adds packet loss testing (preview3). On an Agent that collects SNMP, it keeps a port's link speed current when the link renegotiates (preview1). Open Settings - Multi-Site, expand your site, and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command, or run the upgrade command yourself.

Fifth preview of v2.10.0. See the v2.10.0-preview4 notes for what came before.

Automatic Blocking stops reprovisioning your gateway with every block and picks its public block lists for what your site exposes, devices reaching a botnet's command server now raise an alert, and fewer false attack chains.

Threat Intelligence

Automatic Blocking

  • Fix: every block and expiry reprovisioned the gateway - Automatic Blocking rewrote its Network List in UniFi Network each time, so on a busy site (and on every site sharing its blocks) the gateway reprovisioned every few minutes and lost a round of SNMP polling each time. With an On-Site Agent on your gateway, blocks now apply there in seconds without a reprovision, and the Network List catches up overnight, or right away when you release a block or change a setting. If that agent goes offline, the Network List takes over.
  • Blocking profiles - Turn On Recommended now picks Home or Self-Hosting from your port forwards and turns on the public block lists that fit, with command servers blocked outbound. Business and Lockdown are in the picker beside Public Block Lists, which applies any profile to a site's lists.
  • Fix: a source flagged in Detection Only wasn't blocked after switching to Blocking - Automatic Blocking skipped it until its Detection Only entry ran out, even while it kept attacking. It gets a real block the next time it's flagged now.
  • Also fixed: saving one site's settings rewrote the Network List of every site sharing its blocks.

Public Block Lists

  • More lists - abuse.ch ThreatFox and Q-Feeds (each with your own free key), CINS Army, IPsum, and Tor exit relays, the attacker lists blocking inbound only. Without an On-Site Agent on your gateway, UniFi Network holds only part of the larger lists, and the card marks which.
  • Public Block List alerts - a device on your network reaching an address on a command-server list (Spamhaus DROP, ThreatFox, Q-Feeds, or Feodo Tracker) raises an alert: Critical if it connected, Warning if the attempt was blocked. A CyberSecure alert for the same device and address counts as the same contact, Attack Sequences lists every contact under Public Block List Contacts, and a listed address's details name its list.
  • Outbound blocking in about a minute - with Also block devices from reaching the public lists (outbound) on, the gateway's On-Site Agent blocks a newly listed address within a minute rather than at the next Network List update.

Attack Sequences

  • Fix: late replies from servers your devices were using raised "Attack chain" alerts - QUIC from Google and Facebook especially. On consoles that log allowed traffic, those replies no longer fill the timeline either.

Settings

  • Save follows you down the page - on desktop, a card's Save stays in view while you work through a long card, and shows whether the save went through. Leaving Settings with unsaved changes asks first.

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag. Set it once and future builds - previews and releases - arrive on pull. You no longer need to switch back to :latest when a release ships: :preview gets every release too, so you're always on the newest build.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.9.3 or other releases):

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:preview
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:preview
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Windows: download the MSI installer below

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. release/2.10 is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch origin && git checkout release/2.10 && git reset --hard origin/release/2.10 && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox (assuming you've already installed via the LXC script listed in v2.9.3 or other releases):

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && sed -i -e "s#network-optimizer:latest#network-optimizer:preview#" -e "s#speedtest:latest#speedtest:preview#" docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -a -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
