github Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer v2.10.0-preview3

pre-releaseone hour ago

On-Site Agent update (optional): if you run WAN Speed Tests from an On-Site Agent, upgrade it to get packet loss testing. If your On-Site Agent collects SNMP and you skipped preview1, the same upgrade keeps a port's link speed current when it renegotiates. Open Settings - Multi-Site, expand your site, and press Run It for Me under the upgrade command.

Third preview of v2.10.0. See the v2.10.0-preview2 notes for what came before.

WAN Speed Test now measures packet loss, idle and under load, and calls out a test that other traffic on your WAN spoiled. Also, deleting a monitored device in Settings - Monitoring asks first.

WAN Speed Test

  • Packet loss - every test measures loss with the line idle and while it's saturated in each direction, on the new Packet Loss chart tab and on each result next to the latency. Tests take about 12 seconds longer for the idle measurement.
  • Not a valid test - when a test lands well under your plan and Monitoring saw enough other traffic on that WAN to explain the gap, the result says so and ISP Health leaves it out.
  • Fix: loaded latency and jitter could read the test server's own congestion - they're now checked against a separate host, so a busy server no longer shows up as bufferbloat on your line.

Monitoring

  • Delete asks first - in Settings - Monitoring, deleting a cellular modem, cable modem, ONT, or Starlink terminal takes a second click to confirm. Deleting the one open in Edit also closes its form instead of leaving it open.

ISP Health

  • WAN Speed Tests feed Packet Loss and Loaded Loss - each test's loss joins what Monitoring measures, which fills in Loaded Loss on a line Monitoring rarely catches under load.
  • Smaller path shifts - a routing change that moves several hops at once is now reported even when each hop only moves a little. One hop moving on its own still needs a bigger step.

Installation

Preview builds use a rolling :preview tag. Set it once and future builds - previews and releases - arrive on pull. You no longer need to switch back to :latest when a release ships: :preview gets every release too, so you're always on the newest build.

Docker (assuming you've installed already through the normal procedures listed in v2.9.3 or other releases):

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:preview
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:preview
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Windows: download the MSI installer below

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop). Same command for every preview build. release/2.10 is rebuilt when a release ships, so the reset is what keeps a later update from stopping on a diverged branch - it discards local changes to the checkout:

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch origin && git checkout release/2.10 && git reset --hard origin/release/2.10 && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox (assuming you've already installed via the LXC script listed in v2.9.3 or other releases):

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c 'cd /opt/network-optimizer && sed -i -e "s#network-optimizer:latest#network-optimizer:preview#" -e "s#speedtest:latest#speedtest:preview#" docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d && docker image prune -a -f'

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux) or new installations, see the Deployment Guide.
