By request, satellite imagery and a smarter address search for the Wi-Fi Optimizer maps. See v1.22.0 release notes for what's new in v1.22.0+

Wi-Fi Optimizer: Signal & Speed Maps

Satellite imagery

  • Satellite toggle - Flip the base layer to satellite imagery on the Signal and Speed Test maps. Works out of the box with Esri World Imagery, which needs no account or API key. A one-time confirm notes the built-in imagery is free for personal, non-commercial use.
  • Optional Mapbox token for commercial use - A new Settings > Satellite Imagery section accepts a Mapbox public token. When set, the satellite layer uses commercially licensed Mapbox imagery instead of Esri, with a badge showing the active provider.

Address search

  • Smarter zoom by place type - Searching a country zooms to a wide view, a city to a regional view, and a specific house all the way in, instead of one fixed zoom for everything.
  • Grid-style address matching - Addresses like "1234 S 5678 W" now resolve by retrying without the cardinal direction when the first pass comes up empty.
  • Clear button - An X appears in the search field when you have text, to clear and start over without retyping.
  • Staged Esc - Esc steps back one level at a time: close the suggestions, then clear the text, then collapse the search box, so dismissing suggestions no longer wipes what you typed.
  • Result pin cleanup - The pin dropped on a search result goes away when you clear the search.

Map controls

  • Esc exits fullscreen - On the Signal Map, after backing out of any open dialog, mode, or building selection, a final Esc leaves fullscreen.
  • Zoom button styling - The zoom buttons on the Signal and Speed Test maps now match the 2D / 3D LAN flow maps, including a muted look when you are at the zoom limit.

Installation

Windows: Download the MSI installer below

Docker:

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):

git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox:

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"
# or if you just need to update
pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c "cd /opt/network-optimizer && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d"

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux), see the Deployment Guide.
