More fixes and polish for monitoring. See v1.19.0 release notes for what's new in v1.19.0+
Network Monitoring
- PPPoE WAN throughput - WAN throughput charts were completely blank on PPPoE connections (#669). The interface resolver looked for the physical uplink port, which never yields the
ppp0tunnel where the counters actually live. Fixed with a shared interface-selection helper that picks the right counter source per connection type (PPPoE, GRE-tunneled cellular, plain Ethernet). Existing data appears retroactively since SNMP was collecting it all along. - Corrupt SNMP counter rejection - A single garbled SNMP read could produce terabit-per-second spikes on the chart (observed as 10 Tbps on a 2.5 G WAN port). Rates above 1.4x link speed are now discarded and the baseline recovers automatically.
- Counter reset recovery - SNMP rate computation now detects device reboots and firmware upgrades (counter resets) and reseeds the baseline instead of charting a spike.
Client Stats
- Clearer traffic direction labels - Disconnect events now show "Device downloaded X / uploaded Y" instead of ambiguous up/down labels, and Wi-Fi rates are labeled "AP TX/RX Rate" to make the perspective explicit.
- Client IP in detail header - The detail banner shows the client IP next to the MAC address.
Fixes
- HTML instead of JSON from console - During a console firmware upgrade (or other maintenance), the UniFi Console may serve an HTML page instead of JSON. The error now includes the page title and a clear explanation instead of a cryptic deserialization failure.
Installation
Windows: Download the MSI installer below
Docker:
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dmacOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):
git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.shProxmox:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux), see the Deployment Guide.
