More improvements to Self-Hosted Network Monitoring, faster traceroutes, and a community contribution for audit rules. See v1.17.0 release notes for what's new in v1.17.0+
Self-Hosted Network Monitoring
- Multi-WAN 3D map - All active WANs now render as separate access globes with their own live throughput rates, speed test results, and friendly names from your UniFi Network configs.
- WAN detection overhaul - The upstream tracer now reads the device's wan1...wan6 objects directly instead of relying on port_table.is_uplink, which may not be set for PPPoE, VLAN-tagged, or GRE tunnel connections. Fixes #651.
- Faster traceroute probes - Reduced per-hop timeout and probe count so traces complete within the deadline even on paths with silent intermediate hops.
- Access technology selector - Set your access network technology (GPON, DOCSIS, Active Ethernet, etc.) during upstream discovery review.
- Target deduplication - Re-running upstream discovery no longer creates duplicate monitoring targets.
- Right-click WAN globe - Context menu navigates directly to upstream discovery.
- Historic playback per-WAN - Historic mode now resolves rates per-WAN. Speed test lookback extended to 30 days.
- Timeline controls - 10x scrubber resolution, arrow key scrubbing (shift for 10x), spacebar pause/play, 0.5x playback speed.
- WASD sensitivity - Reduced ~33% for smoother camera control.
Security Audit
- Mirror-port awareness - Port-evaluating audit rules now skip mirror/span ports, avoiding false positives on monitoring ports. Thanks @jedis00! (#650)
Installation
Windows: Download the MSI installer below
Docker:
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dmacOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):
git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.shProxmox:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux), see the Deployment Guide.
