The big one. Full time-series network monitoring with a 3D real-time traffic visualization, latency and device health charting, and automated upstream path discovery. See v1.16.0 release notes for what came before.
What's New
- Network Monitoring - SNMP-based polling with InfluxDB 2.x storage. Interface counters, device health, latency probes, SFP optical levels, and WiFi client snapshots - all with configurable retention and a setup wizard that handles bucket and token provisioning automatically.
- 3D LAN Flow Map - Real-time Three.js visualization of your entire network topology with directional particle-flow traffic. WASD navigation, fullscreen mode, double-click any client to open their performance dashboard. Filter by band, network, or search by name.
- Upstream Path Discovery - Automated traceroute-based discovery of your ISP's access infrastructure, transit networks, and internet service endpoints. Identifies your OLT/CMTS, ISP edge routers, and transit ASNs with both ICMP and UDP probes.
- SFP/ONT optical monitoring - Live RX/TX power, temperature, voltage, and bias current for PON SFP modules. Auto-detects GPON vs XGS-PON from a database of common modules (Calix, Zyxel, Nokia, Leox, ODI, SourcePhotonics, and more). Shows a 2.5 Gbps upgrade hint for GPON modules on UCG/UXG-Fiber gateways.
Latency & Packet Loss
- Time-series RTT and packet loss charts across four target categories - LAN fabric, ISP access hops, transit networks, and internet services
- Per-target filter badges with solo-click UX
- Time range presets (15m to 30d), shift arrows to pan the window, and a custom date range picker
- Sub-15 ms query performance via InfluxDB tag-indexed queries
Device Health
- Temperature, CPU, and Memory charts per network device
- Gateway temperature via LM-SENSORS SNMP OID
- AP CPU collection via hrProcessorLoad walk (ssCpuIdle not supported on APs)
- Memory calculation excludes cache to show actual usage
- Dashboard device cards show live CPU, memory, and temperature at a glance
Security Audit
- DNS VIP support - New TrustedDnsRedirectTargets setting lets operators allowlist virtual IPs (keepalived, HAProxy, anycast) as valid DNAT redirect targets. Thanks to @jedis00 for the contribution.
Fixes
- Firmware 5.1.12 - Bumped max supported firmware
- Reverse proxy docs - Clarified .env configuration for reverse proxy setups
- Settings defaults - InfluxDB bucket defaults now match the setup wizard
- API endpoint refactor - Moved from inline Program.cs to Endpoints/*.cs modules
Installation
Windows: Download the MSI installer below
Docker:
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dmacOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):
git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.shProxmox:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux), see the Deployment Guide.
