What's new in the app
New look
- Four tabs: Today, Sleep, Activity, Health.
- One name per score, and every trend tells you how today compares with your usual range.
- Heart-rate zones are labelled rows with their bpm ranges.
- Profile opens from your avatar on every tab. Detailed charts moved to an Advanced screen.
Report an issue
- Settings > Report an issue: pick what went wrong, describe it, add a screenshot if you like.
- "Create ticket" packs app info, sync state and recent logs, encrypts them on your phone so only the maintainers can read them, and gives you a ticket ID (OS-XXXXXX) to quote on Discord or GitHub.
- Your health database is included only if you switch it on. "Share locally" builds the same file and lets you share it yourself; nothing is uploaded.
- You can delete a ticket any time from My reports. Reports are deleted automatically after 30 days (14 if they include your database).
Scores
- Recovery is calibrated to your own normal range and combines HRV with resting heart rate.
- Every screen shows the same recovery number, and it's only locked in after a full night.
- When recovery isn't scored, the app tells you why.
- Nightly HRV is more accurate, and the HRV sent to Apple Health now matches what Apple Watch reports.
- Strain is measured against your own resting level.
- A day's strain is never lower than a workout on that day, and days with no detected sleep still get a strain.
- Naps and broken sleeps under 3 hours no longer push resting heart rate up.
- WHOOP 5: nightly skin temperature compared with your usual, in °C.
Your data, more of it
- History from older WHOOP 4 firmware that was stored but never read now gets decoded, so some people get missing days back.
- New users see "Recovery starts in N nights" while their baseline builds, with resting HR, steps and sleep from night one.
New
- Nutrition: search past foods, meal times, edit entries, today's protein.
- Heart rate: zoomable day chart and minute-by-minute export.
- Imported workouts are scored with your band's heart rate.
- Activity review, a better weightlifting exercise picker, and padel, skateboarding and push-ups.
- Alarms: next alarm on Home, a note when it fired, more reliable on WHOOP 5.
- 12/24-hour clock setting.
- Android: back up to a folder you choose.
- iOS: Shortcuts to sync the band and get today's numbers, background sync on iOS 27, and a warning that deleting the app unpairs your bands.
- Steps: wearing-location setting, and the app shows when the band counted the steps.
- WHOOP 5 battery pack charge.
- Blood oxygen imported from WHOOP data in Health.
- AI Coach works with OpenAI tool calling; Tailscale addresses count as local.
- Russian translation and improved German.
- Other wearables (Beta, off by default): Oura, Garmin, Pebble, Colmi, Ultrahuman and Mi Band can pair. Turn on "Use this device for scores" on the device page to try them.
Fixes
- Sync button works again; fewer drops and hangs during sync.
- Sleep corrections now stick, and the app checks the saved night matches your edit.
- Fewer wrong sleep guesses from heart rate alone, and naps no longer double-counted on old days.
- Sleep: nights end at the right time, edits across midnight and daylight-saving changes stick, and last night waits until the band has synced past your wake.
- Health: no duplicates or accidental wipes, heart rate keeps reaching Apple Health, Health Connect workouts work both ways.
- Illness and temperature alerts use the newest night, with honest wording.
- WHOOP 4 nights where skin temperature just follows the room no longer trigger illness alerts.
- One "band charging" card a day, and old workout suggestions clear after 7 days.
- Android back button moves between tabs again.
- iPhone now keeps a sync log, so problem reports include what the app was doing.
- Dozens of smaller fixes to dates, daylight saving, water, workouts and notifications.
OpenStrap Edge is now licensed under AGPL-3.0.
