Spout2 Plugin for OBS 1.15.0

Warning

1.15.0 requires OBS Studio 33.0 or newer. It does not work with OBS 32 or earlier.
It is built against OBS 33 and installs to the OBS 33 plugin layout. Older versions of OBS will not load it and will show "The following OBS plugins failed to load: win-spout". The installer now checks your OBS version and refuses to install on anything older than 33.0.
If you are on OBS 32.x or earlier, stay on 1.13.0 until you update OBS.

New

  • Hotkeys (#54):
    • Settings → Hotkeys now has Start Spout Output and Stop Spout Output.
    • Each Spout Filter gets Enable Spout Filter and Disable Spout Filter.
    • The Tools dialog's Start/Stop buttons stay in step when the output is started or stopped by a hotkey or obs-websocket.
  • OpenGL renderer (#64): with --allow-opengl, the Tools → Spout Output still works. The Spout2 Capture source and the Spout Filter need Direct3D 11, so they are hidden on OpenGL and a warning in the log explains why.

Fixes

Spout Output (Tools menu)

  • AutoStart now starts the output when OBS starts. Before, it only started when you opened the Tools dialog (#80, #92).
  • The Tools dialog shows whether the output is really running, so you can always stop it. Changes are saved as soon as you make them.
  • Switching profiles no longer leaves the canvas at the old profile's resolution while the output is running (#66).
  • The output recovers after sleep/resume or a graphics driver reset. Before, it stopped sending until OBS was restarted (#108).

Spout2 Capture source

  • Frames are now received under Spout's access lock, so you no longer see torn or half-drawn frames (#86).
  • A sender whose texture can't be opened is retried instead of staying blank. When the sender is on a different GPU, the log says to put OBS and the sender on the same GPU in Windows Graphics settings (#73).
  • New sources show "Opaque" in Composite Mode instead of an empty box, and the sender list label is translated again.
  • The log names the source, instead of [(null)]. It also warns when another plugin (PRPR Live is a known case) has taken over the Spout2 Capture source id and hidden it from the Sources list (#56).

Install

Close OBS before installing.

  • Installer: installs to C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\win-spout. It refuses to install if your OBS is older than 33.0.
  • Zip: extract it so you end up with C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\win-spout\win-spout.dll.
  • Portable OBS: extract the -portable.zip into the root of your OBS folder.

If you're upgrading from 1.13.0 or earlier, see the 1.14.0 notes for the move to the OBS 33 folder layout.

The binaries are code-signed by Off World Live Limited.
