See you tomorrow for the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes native port alpha release!
Custom actions and a Remastered toggle
Custom actions (Settings > Controls > Remap > Custom actions (advanced)): add as many actions as you want, each picked from a searchable catalogue and then bound like any other control (chords, layers, triggers, touch buttons):
- Settings: toggle port settings
- Cheats: Invincibility, Phazon Beam, free camera, freeze, refills, give or take an item, kill the locked-on enemy (#218).
- Travel: warp to a room picked by its in-game name, or to a world's start.
- Save states, HUD messages, text language and debug console lines.
- To be expanded in the future
Remastered graphics toggle (#217): a "Remastered graphics" action in Controls > Port (unbound by default) and remastered toggle in the console switch between Prime Remastered and the original look mid-game, without a restart, on Android too.
You need your own disc image: Metroid Prime Trilogy (R3ME01 USA, R3MP01 PAL), Metroid Prime USA (GM8E01, revisions 1.00, 1.01 and 1.02), PAL (GM8P01). No disc image or game assets are included.
What else changed
Prime Remastered
- Remastered particles and effects for many more enemies and bosses: Drones (lasers and scanner), Gun Turrets and their projectiles, Baby and Ice Sheegoths (breath and frozen screen), Thardus, the Parasite Queen, Ridley, Metroid Prime (beams, ice attack, energy balls), Atomic Betas, Metroid Betas, Puffers' gas clouds and wall crawler swarms, plus matched enemies' death particles.
- Remastered's visor steam, and liquid surfaces paired with their retail water.
- Electric effects evaluate their radii, colour and intensity per node, so tapered beams draw as shipped.
- The intro hangar's fill lights follow Remastered's animation instead of cutting off as the ship appears (needs a re-import, done automatically).
- Particles that face the camera blend along its up axis.
Metroid Prime Trilogy
- Trilogy's combat crosshair
- The crosshair settings (colour, opacity, style, size) now apply to Trilogy's cursor.
- The credits have their text.
- Remastered movies the Trilogy disc lacks now play.
- Saves move between GameCube and Trilogy discs with the Trilogy's own tables; a converted save no longer marks the wrong Chozo Ruins pickups collected.
Input
- Sensitivity and fly speed sliders are linear (#211). Saved values are kept.
Rendering
- OpenGL 3.3 GPUs without Vulkan no longer fall back to software rendering (#202).
- Video > Compatibility > Driver workarounds > "Decode compressed textures on the CPU", for drivers that scramble compressed textures (#143).
Other
- A game played without a memory card no longer offers a quick resume that ends on file select.
Issues addressed
- #202 OpenGL backend (GL 3.3 support)
- #211 Unbalanced sensitivity sliders
- #217 Hotkey to toggle Remastered graphics in game
- #218 Alternative Phazon Beam cheat activation (custom actions)
