github Odrannnn/MetroidPrimePort v0.24.0

latest release: v0.25.0

A search field for the F1 settings, a separate vertical stick aim speed, mouse fixes in morph ball, smoother scan icons, visor reticles and fast cutscenes at uncapped frame rates, visor static that animates again, and a fix for the thermal visor running out of memory.

You need your own disc image: Metroid Prime USA (GM8E01, revisions 1.00, 1.01 and 1.02) or the experimental PAL release (GM8P01). No disc image or game assets are included.

What changed

New

  • Settings search: a search field above the F1 page list finds any setting by name, place or keyword. Picking a result opens its page, tab and section, scrolls to it and highlights it, on desktop and touch alike.
  • Separate vertical stick aim speed (F1 > Controller > Stick aim, twin stick only, off by default): looking up and down gets its own speed slider; the existing speed then sets only the horizontal (#100).

Controls

  • With mouse aim on, the pointer stays locked in morph ball, so a bomb click can no longer land outside the window and drop focus (#96).
  • With mouse aim on, mouse buttons bound to Y and R now drop power bombs and hold the spider ball in morph ball.
  • With "Separate menu buttons" on, save station and upgrade message dialogs and the scan text follow the Menu rows (#93).

Fixes

  • Thermal visor out of memory: the retail thermal visor no longer grows GPU memory every frame (about 1 GB in ten seconds at 720p), which got the game killed on Android and could exhaust VRAM on Windows (#95).
  • Visor static from drones, Scatter Bombus and Chozo Ghosts animates again instead of showing one still frame (#91).
  • With the frame limit off:
    • Scan icons on large scannables (Samus' ship, Meta Ridley) no longer jitter (#98).
    • The X-ray and thermal reticles no longer jitter against the world with mouse look (#97).
    • Fast movers such as Meta Ridley's fly-in and the camera chasing him keep blending between ticks instead of snapping
