NovaBird 2.0 – Beta 2. Second test version of 2.0. Please back up your Thunderbird profile first and report what you find (issues). Installs over Beta 1; settings and index are kept.
New since Beta 1
- Older mail no longer tops the search. With "Best first" and "Relevance", older mail counts less – for word and meaning hits, for the order and for whether a hit makes it into the top block. A much better old hit still comes first. Normal: about half after 3 years, never below 40 %.
- "Long ago" is understood. If the search names a time ("10 years ago", "2012") or says "long ago", "back then" (also in German, French and Spanish), older mail is not downgraded. It shows as the chip "Older mail".
- New option Search → "Prefer newer mail": Normal, Strong, Off.
- The hit list starts at the top. Before, it often showed its middle or end, with a message selected that nobody had clicked.
- Helper: phones (NovaBird Mail for Android 0.7.1 or newer) get their own vector store, so phones and PCs in one group no longer push each other's vectors out.
