NovaBird 2.0 – Beta 1. First public test version of 2.0. Used daily and tested a lot, but it is a beta: please back up your Thunderbird profile first and report what you find (issues).
New in 2.0 (everything is optional)
- AI assistant with Ollama, an OpenAI-compatible server or the NovaBird Helper: summary, translation, dates, "What's new?", writing help, deadlines, sorting into folders (beta), reading aloud. Off until you switch it on.
- Search by meaning (beta): "parents meeting" finds the "parent-teacher evening". Best matches first; very large mailboxes much faster.
- NovaBird Helper (optional, Windows): uses the graphics card for search, AI and reading aloud, computes for several PCs in your own network, team calendars without a cloud.
- Four add-ons instead of eight, setup assistant on first start, settings sorted by topic.
- Android: NovaBird Mail for Android (beta) is a separate project: download (APK) · repository

Install
- Betterbird or Thunderbird ESR 128 or newer (the add-ons use experiment APIs, which do not run in the monthly release).
- Add-ons manager → gear → Install Add-on From File…, select the
.xpifiles, restart. - Coming from 1.x: install over the old packages. The old NovaBird-Search and the theme add-ons are taken over and removed on the first start; settings, search history, index and theme are kept.
- The setup assistant opens on the first start. Every step can be skipped.
