Download HookshotBuilder.exe and run it, or accept the game's update offer (a ~4 MB download, a few minutes of compiling).
Setup and builder
- "Github answered with an error" (#537, #538, #539, #543, #544): GitHub's release download links failed with 504 for hours.
HookshotBuilder.exe now tries again (5 times for the list, 4 for each part), and when the release link fails it fetches the same
file through GitHub's API instead (from PR #546 by nicholasgower).
Updated the exe now tries 8 times over ~3 minutes, and a download cut off half way is tried again instead of
failing at once (#558). The parts already downloaded are kept, so running it again carries on. - Builds stopping at once with
OSError [Errno 22]or WinError 1224 (#501, #530): a build left running by an earlier one
(the builder closed, crashed or replaced by an update mid-build) held the work folder's files. A new build now stops that
leftover build first, and nothing else. - Choose the number of build workers in the Windows builder (PR #517 by monsterlag; #502). Automatic is the default and
works as before; the Linux builder honoursHOOKSHOT_JOBS(PR #505). - The builder is readable on a light Windows theme (PR #535).
Game
- 4 GB graphics cards dropping to 4-5 fps in big areas (#519): the scene's textures were held uncompressed and overflowed
the card's memory. On cards with under 6 GB they now stay compressed (a quarter of the size; the picture looks the same). - Intel Arc freezing the whole PC (#496): Intel's shader compiler built four large shaders at once. On Intel they are now
built one at a time. On every GPU, a shader still compiling no longer slows each frame that uses it. - Grass shadows: mesh programs that draw points (PR #482); 8- and 16-bit shader stores no longer fail to translate (PR #536).
- Test tooling: scripted input with the game in the background (PR #545), and new regression checks (PRs #506, #516, #540, #541).
Everything from faster-fps is in here.
