Download HookshotBuilder.exe and run it, or accept the game's update offer.
Updates are small again
- Every builder update recompiled the whole game (2+ hours) (#565, #562): each release installs into its own folder, and
the check for changed system headers counted that folder's path as a change, so both caches of compiled code were thrown
away. Now only real changes count. Updating to this release already reuses what your last build compiled. Tested
here from two separate install folders: the second update compiled 3 files in 10 seconds instead of 579.
Fewer GPU crashes (device lost) on Windows
- Memory the GPU had used is no longer given back on Windows. Giving it back was meant for a Linux AMD driver, and on
Windows it was followed by device lost on Intel Arc (#17) and on AMD (Ally X #309, RX 6600 #571). If you had device lost,
please try this release and tell us. (RX_VK_KEEP_RETIRED=0brings back the old behaviour.)
Builder and setup
- HookshotBuilder.exe tries 8 times over ~3 minutes during GitHub outages, alternating GitHub's download link and its
API, retries a download that was cut off, and keeps the parts it already has, so running it again carries on (#558). - The game's update offer retries too and uses GitHub's API when the release link fails (PR #555 by yeetbot90).
- "Can't be read" on a game file now says why, in the file's row (#563).
- After preparing shaders, the pipeline cache is saved at once (PR #559 by klimovich008: less stutter on AMD).
Everything from low-vram is in here.
